The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for conducting, overseeing, and coordinating quality control checks across assigned projects. This role works closely with the Project Management leadership team, the QA Manager, and the General Contractor’s QA/QC personnel to ensure all work is performed in compliance with project specifications, installation standards, and contractual requirements.
Reporting directly to the QA Manager, the QA Technician plays a key role in developing and enforcing quality standards, performing detailed inspections, and maintaining thorough documentation to support compliance and continuous improvement throughout all phases of construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Control & Assurance
- Conduct regular formal inspections to verify work quality and compliance with specifications.
- Collaborate with General Contractor QA/QC teams to address and resolve quality issues.
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance procedures and checklists.
- Document findings and generate detailed quality reports for project leadership.
- Ensure adherence to applicable industry standards, codes, and project plans.
- Support training initiatives to promote quality awareness among project teams.
- Collaborate with Project Management leadership to develop standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Coordinate with the MCIS Quality Assurance department to track trends and recommend process improvements.
Project Management Support:
- Support the project management team by maintaining accountability of materials and equipment required for inspections and installations.
- Perform daily inspections of materials, workmanship, and completed work to ensure compliance.
- Participate in planning sessions to align quality requirements with project schedules.
- Monitor construction activities during installation to ensure compliance with project standards, SOPs, and specifications.
- Assist with incident response activities and support safety requirements.
- Track daily progress and report completed work, delays, material shortages, and operational issues.
Safety & Compliance:
- Enforce all MCIS and OSHA safety policies among crew members.
- Participate in pre-task planning meetings and toolbox talks.
- Ensure proper PPE use at all times.
- Report incidents, near misses, and unsafe behaviors to project leadership.
- Participate in safety audits, inspections, and corrective action plans.
Quality & Workmanship:
- Inspect crew work regularly to verify compliance with project specifications and MCIS quality standards.
- Assist with punch list items and project closeout activities.
- Coordinate inspections with General Contractor QA/QC representatives and third-party inspectors as required.
Expected Working Hours:
- Standard schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM.
- Weekend work may be required based on project deadlines.
- Work hours may vary based on project and operational needs.
Employment Requirements:
- Must be able to travel and work at the Cedar Rapids, Iowa project site.
- Position requires frequent standing, walking, climbing, and working outdoors and at heights.
- Must be able to wear required PPE at all times while on-site.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
- Travel between job sites may be required.
- Employment with MCIS is at-will and may be terminated by either party at any time, with or without cause or notice, subject to applicable law.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in construction quality assurance, inspections, or a related field.
- Knowledge of construction methods, tools, and OSHA safety practices.
- Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with project teams.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schedules, and construction documents.
