The Sanitization Technician is responsible for the cleaning, sanitization, and preparation of manufacturing equipment, utensils, processing vessels, and production areas used in the manufacture of personal care and over-the-counter (OTC) drug products. This role ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), FDA regulations, company quality standards, and safety requirements. The Sanitization Technician plays a critical role in preventing product contamination, cross-contamination, and ensuring equipment readiness for production operations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Carry out responsibilities in compliance with company policies, work procedures, and federal, state and local laws. Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and health and safety rules and regulations.
- Clean and sanitize manufacturing equipment, tanks, mixers, filling lines, transfer hoses, utensils, and ancillary equipment according to approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Perform cleaning and sanitization of production rooms, compounding areas, packaging lines, warehouses, and other controlled manufacturing environments.
- Disassemble and reassemble equipment as required for effective cleaning and inspection.
- Execute Cleaning-in-Place (CIP) and manual cleaning processes as directed.
- Prepare and use approved cleaning and sanitizing solutions in accordance with established procedures.
- Complete and maintain accurate documentation, including cleaning logs, cleaning tags, equipment status labels, etc.
- Verify equipment meets cleanliness standards before release for manufacturing use.
- Conduct visual inspections to identify residue, product buildup, contamination risks, or equipment deficiencies.
- Assist with environmental monitoring, cleaning validation activities, and swab sampling as required.
- Support changeover activities between production batches and product lines.
- Properly handle, store, and dispose of cleaning chemicals and waste materials in compliance with safety and environmental requirements.
- Follow all GMP, FDA, OSHA, and company safety policies.
- Report equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, quality issues, or deviations to supervision immediately.
- Participate in inspections, audits, investigations, and corrective action activities as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and audit-ready work environment.
- Perform tasks with safety in mind for self and others
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in manufacturing, sanitation, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, food, or personal care production environment preferred.
- Basic understanding of GMP and sanitation practices preferred.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow SOPs, work instructions, and safety procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to identify and escalate quality or compliance concerns.
- Ability to accurately complete GMP documentation.
- Basic computer and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth production flow and problem resolution.
- Maintain a positive and productive relationship with co-workers and others with whom the position may have contact.
- Must be able to work onsite and support flexible shifts and overtime as production requires.

- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, and lift throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work around cleaning chemicals, hot water, and manufacturing equipment.
- Must be able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, gowns, and steel/composite toe footwear.
- Ability to work in wet, humid, or temperature-variable environments.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to cleaning agents, sanitizers, fragrances, raw materials, and extreme periods of cold and heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

The salary range for this role is $18.75 - $27.50 hourly. Compensation is commensurate with level of knowledge, education, skills, and experience applicable to the position.
