Exciting Opportunity at MSK: Research Compliance is recruiting for a Coordinator, Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) position. This position will support the Institutional Biosafety Committee by focusing on compliance, education, and workflow maintenance and improvement. This role will ensure that research activities adhere to requirements laid out in the NIH guidelines for research involving recombinant or synthetic nucleic acid molecules.
Role Overview:
- Provide administrative and organizational support to help ensure the successful functioning of the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC), which oversees research with rDNA and biohazardous material
- Serve as a general and technical assistance resource to investigative staff and other departments regarding IBC deadlines, meeting dates, registration/protocol status and updates
- Implement logistics for monthly IBC meetings, including preparation of agenda and meeting minutes
- Train users in the IBC system; assist with website and system enhancements as needed
- Follow up with PIs and reviewers to ensure that timely reviews are accomplished, and any questions are answered
- Track user biosafety training and ensure they are completed by the deadline
- Assist with IBC protocol management, education, and outreach efforts
Key Qualifications:
- Minimum 1-2 years related work experience; experience in research, regulatory or compliance environment is preferred
- Excellent communication, customer service and relationship building skills
- Strong time management, prioritization and computer skills
- Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and maintain strict confidentiality
Core Skills:
- An effective communicator, capable of building and maintaining positive relationships with various stakeholders
- Adept at planning and prioritizing multiple tasks to meet commitments aligned with departmental and organizational goals
- Flexible in your approach and demeanor in order to align with the shifting demands of evolving circumstances and the changing landscape of biosafety
Additional information :
- Hybrid schedule (mostly remote, occasional on-site presence), 37.5 hours/week.
- Location: 430 E. 67th Street, NYC (RRL).
- Reports to Senior Manager, Research Compliance (IBC/ESCRO).
