Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Child Behavioral Therapist to join our mental health and behavioral services team. The ideal candidate will provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions to children and their families in in-home, in-clinic, and in-school environments. The therapist will support emotional, behavioral, and developmental needs through assessments, treatment planning, and delivery of individualized services. This role is essential in improving quality of life for children with behavioral health challenges, including developmental disabilities, trauma-related conditions, and social-emotional difficulties.
ResponsibilitiesAcross All Settings
- Conduct comprehensive intake assessments to evaluate children’s behavioral health needs.
- Develop individualized treatment plans using evidence-based practices such as ABA, CBT, trauma-informed care, and parent training.
- Provide individual, group, and family therapy focused on behavioral management, social skills, emotional regulation, and trauma recovery.
- Collect and document accurate data on client progress while maintaining all HIPAA and organizational documentation standards.
- Collaborate with families, caregivers, educators, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure consistent support across settings.
- Provide crisis intervention during acute behavioral or emotional episodes.
- Participate in diagnostic evaluations, case management activities, and ongoing progress assessments.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practices in behavioral health, special education, and developmental disabilities (including ASD).
Setting-Specific ResponsibilitiesIn-Home Services
- Deliver therapy and parent-coaching within the family’s natural environment to promote generalization of skills.
- Model appropriate behavioral strategies for caregivers and support implementation of home-based behavior plans.
- Conduct home-safety assessments and tailor interventions to family routines and dynamics.
- Support families in establishing predictable schedules, behavior-supportive environments, and consistent reinforcement systems.
In-Clinic Services
- Implement structured therapy sessions using ABA, CBT, play therapy, and other modalities within a controlled clinical environment.
- Collaborate with clinic-based multidisciplinary teams (BCBAs, RBTs, speech therapists, OTs) to align treatment goals.
- Participate in team meetings, clinical reviews, and skill-building groups.
- Support clients in transitioning between therapy rooms, following clinic routines, and increasing independence in a structured setting.
In-School Services
- Provide behavioral and mental health support within the educational setting, including push-in/pull-out services.
- Collaborate with teachers, IEP teams, and school staff to develop and implement school-based behavior intervention plans.
- Conduct classroom observations, functional behavior assessments (FBAs), and progress monitoring specific to academic and social-emotional needs.
- Train school personnel on reinforcement strategies, behavior prevention techniques, crisis-management procedures, and trauma-informed practices when appropriate.
- Support generalization of therapy goals to academic tasks, peer interactions, and daily routines.
Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience in child and family counseling, behavioral therapy, or social work.
- Strong clinical expertise in ABA, CBT, motivational interviewing, crisis intervention, and trauma-informed care.
- Skilled in conducting assessments, medical records management, and diagnostic evaluation procedures.
- Ability to work with children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), developmental disabilities, trauma histories, emotional disorders, or gender-related concerns.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with families, school teams, and multidisciplinary professionals.
- Experience delivering services in home, clinic, and/or community/school environments is preferred.
- Detailed understanding of HIPAA and confidentiality standards.
- Ability to manage complex cases requiring coordination across multiple service settings.
- Compassionate, flexible, and committed to delivering high-quality behavioral health services across diverse populations.
Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
