Position Overview
Are you a compassionate, detail-oriented Medical Assistant who thrives in a fast-paced clinical setting? The Medical Assistant supports efficient, patient-centered care by triaging patients, collecting and documenting clinical information, and assisting providers within scope of practice in our urgent care clinics.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and escort patients from the waiting room to treatment areas
- Create a calm, respectful, and supportive patient experience
- Perform triage, including vital signs and basic assessments
- Collect and document health history, medications, allergies, and social/family history
- Accurately enter patient information into the electronic medical record
- Maintain patient privacy and follow HIPAA privacy and security standards
- Assist providers with patient care tasks within scope (physicals, splinting, procedures, etc.)
- Assist with waived lab testing, drug screens, blood alcohol testing, spirometry, and specimen handling
- Support clinic operations (inventory, cleaning, room setup, equipment logs, basic maintenance)
- Assist with telehealth triage and patient discharge as needed
- Use de-escalation skills and professionalism in high-stress situations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 1–3 years of experience with direct patient contact preferred
- Strong computer skills and comfort using an electronic medical record
- Ability to multitask, stay organized, and maintain accuracy and attention to detail
- Knowledge of healthcare safety and compliance standards (HIPAA, OSHA, blood borne pathogens, infection control)
- Ability to follow clinical protocols and manufacturer instructions for waived lab testing
- CNA or Medical Assistant certification preferred, but not required
- Ability to meet physical demands of the role: frequent standing and walking; light lifting up to 20 lbs; reaching, stooping, crouching, pushing, and pulling (with reasonable accommodations as needed)
