Job Title: Clinical Educator
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and qualified individual who will act as a facilitator, teacher, and resource person for new and current staff. In this role they will be expected to assess, plan, organize, implement, and evaluate staff development programs that are directed toward achievement of professional excellence. Promote high quality, continuing professional development for all employees in the organization. Provide and coordinate orientation, in-service education, continuing education, patient safety and education in all settings in the organization. Responsibilities include meeting departmental needs, regulatory and agency requirements. Assist with the coordination of annual required education: risk management, safety, infection control, employee health, etc. Serve as a role model through demonstration of applying theory and incorporating research findings into clinical practice.
Essential Job Functions
- Assesses current and future needs on clinical-care and non-clinical-care issues.
- Educational requirements are verified as stipulated by regulatory accrediting bodies, such as the State of Florida, Joint Commission, OSHA, and AHCA.
- Develops, conducts, and evaluates the nursing orientation program.
- Assesses initial and ongoing needs of nursing personnel. Monitors nursing skills, practices and
- Documentation to ensure compliance with State Regulations and Miami Jewish policies and procedures.
- Designs, implements, and evaluates educational programs.
- Oversees CPR program for MJHS and maintains appropriate documentation for facility employees.
- Participates in Organizational-wide activities to ensure compliance in various areas.
- Maintains training and continuing education records.
- Serves as a liaison with clinical school programs and coordinates scheduling of their clinical experiences.
- Utilizes opportunities to promote professional learning and development.
Job Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Education, or related field.
- Master’s degree preferred.
Experience:
- At least one-year of acute care experience as a RN
- One-year of clinical education and staff development experience
- Clinical experience with the geriatric population preferred
Licenses/Certifications:
- Registered Nurse in the State of Florida
- American Heart Association BLS Instructor
- Valid Florida Driver’s License & Proof of insurance
Abilities Required
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and development skills.
- Knowledge of alternative training methods.
- Ability to address and direct groups of up to 100 persons
- Cognitive, effective, and psychomotor skills necessary to provide clinical instruction.
- Computer skills, research, and basic statistical knowledge preferred
Functional Demands
Environment Work Conditions:
- Normal working condition with adequate lighting and ventilation
- Utilizes clinical equipment, computer equipment, office machines, projectors, VCR, and television
- Lifts objects weighing up to 20 pounds. Transports wheeled equipment with and without assistance
Infectious Material Exposure:
- Routine exposure to blood, bodily fluids, tissues
