PERFERED
- Must meet state of Michigan certification requirements to teach secondary social studies.
- Additional Mathematics (EX) endorsement or Science (DX) endorsement preferred.
- Must demonstrate the desire and ability to build meaningful, caring relationships with students in order to exert academic influence.
- Must demonstrate the ability to create and execute clear, logical instructional plans that produce strong results in student learning.
- Must demonstrate the ability to evaluate academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
HIGH SCHOOL POSITION ONLY
1. Must have minimum of three years of experience teaching history and/or political science at the secondary or community college level.
2. Must possess master’s degree from an accredited college or university:
- Master’s degree in History or Political Science
OR
- Master’s degree in another area with at least 18 graduate credit hours in history or political science to be obtained by September 2026.
3. Must possess Social Science (CX)/Social Studies (RX) endorsement or History (CC) and Political Science (CD) endorsement.
- Minimum starting salary range: $46,945 – $81,638
- 185 annual work days
- Salary schedule placement is determined by degree level and teaching experience. Teachers with previous teaching experience will receive one-half step on the salary schedule for each year of experience up to a maximum of Step 12.
- We offer a competitive benefit package, a $1500 new hire bonus, $2000 toward the cost of graduate credits, and half of the tuition cost for up to 18 graduate credits in a content area taught in our Early College Program.
