THE POSITION…
As a Test Engineer, you will provide engineering expertise toward manufacturing test solutions that verify our products. You will design manufacturing tests for new products and maintain manufacturing testing for existing products, including avionics, power electronics, and battery systems. To be successful in this role, you’ll have the ability to design the test fixtures, test stations, and circuit hardware—along with the PC-based application software that drives them—to prove every unit meets its performance, quality, and regulatory requirements. You can expect a variety of opportunities ranging from products for cockpit displays, instruments and navigational references based on local and remote sensor inputs. Additional products include data conversion and storage, lithium battery management, AC and DC power conversion, and in-seat power solutions.
THIS POSITION MAY BE FOR YOU IF…
- You have a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or computer engineering.
- You have a minimum of 3 years of professional experience designing test solutions for electronic products.
- You have experience creating schematics and PCBs containing mixed-signal (analog and digital) circuits.
- You have experience designing in-circuit test (ICT) and functional circuit test (FCT) fixtures and stations.
- You have proficiency writing C#/.NET software for PC-based test applications.
- You have a working knowledge of Design for Test and Design for Manufacture (DFT & DFM) principles.
- You are skilled at developing automated test sequences with data logging and at performing root cause and failure analysis to drive corrective action.
- You are proficient with electronic test instrumentation, including oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, power supplies, source measure units (SMUs), and data acquisition (DAQ) hardware.
- You are proficient with Microsoft Office.
- You have strong attention to detail.
- You are organized, focused, and results oriented.
- You are a problem-solver with critical thinking and prioritizing skills.
- You have excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
WE WOULD REALLY LIKE IT IF… (but it’s not a deal breaker)
- You have experience designing pogo-pin (bed-of-nails) test fixtures.
- You have experience with boundary scan (JTAG), automated optical inspection (AOI), or other structural test methods.
- You have working knowledge of embedded C for interfacing with microcontroller-based products under test.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM ONE DAY TO THE NEXT…
- Design manufacturing tests for new products, including test fixtures, test stations, and the schematic and PCB design of fixture circuit hardware, driven primarily by C#/.NET application software (with embedded C where required)
- Maintain and improve manufacturing testing for existing products, troubleshooting test failures, performing root cause analysis, and driving corrective actions to sustain quality, yield, and throughput
- Participate in design-for-manufacture and design-for-test (DFM/DFT) reviews, performing test coverage and fault-coverage analysis to influence testability early in the design cycle
- Build and troubleshoot hardware, including basic soldering, operation of test equipment, and daily work in both office and test lab environments
- Create and document designs in required formats, including BOMs, ECOs, and work instructions
