ORGANIZATIONAL MISSION: The mission of Mid-State Health Center is to provide sound primary care to the community, accessible to all regardless of their ability to pay.
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Responsible for performing infusion therapy as directed by physician orders.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Director of Clinical Services.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Perform the infusion therapy as directed by physician orders.
- Establish intravenous access per policy and procedure.
- Observe, assess, and document symptoms via nurses note timely.
- Monitor reactions and patient progress.
- Educate patients and/or caregivers on disease process, medications.
- Demonstrates proper infection control techniques and follows universal precautions.
- Monitors daily refrigerator temps and documents daily log.
- Schedule follow up appointment for next therapy.
- Notify the physician and other personnel (Clinical Director) of change in the patient's condition.
- Perform skill outline in the agency's approved policy and procedure manual.
- Update clinical records according to policy and procedures.
- Update knowledge and skills by attending in-service programs, continuing education programs, seminars, and self-study programs annually.
- Adhere to safe nursing practice standards.
- Maintain professionalism with patient and client staff.
- Call no-show patients to schedule.
- Be knowledgeable about medications to be administered.
- Mix medication per policy and procedure.
- Adhere to Medicaid and Medicare regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
The job holder must demonstrate current competencies applicable to the job position.
EDUCATION: Registered Nurse (R.N.) with a current license within the state.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 1 year experience in infusion therapy as a Registered Nurse preferred.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: Valid NH Driver’s License and auto insurance.

- Requires ability to assist patients in positioning and mobility as needed.
- Occasional lifting, carrying, or moving of supplies, equipment, or patients (up to 50 lbs).
- Manual dexterity and fine motor skills needed to perform clinical procedures, administer injections, start IVs, and operate diagnostic or monitoring equipment.
- Visual and auditory acuity necessary to observe patients, read charts, and respond to alarms or verbal cues.
- May involve extended periods of standing, sitting, or computer use for documentation.
Mental Demands:
- Requires strong critical thinking, clinical judgment, and decision-making skills in a moderately paced environment.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, coordinate care, and manage multiple patients simultaneously.
- Must maintain emotional composure and professionalism when working with anxious, ill, or distressed patients.
- Requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills to educate patients and collaborate with healthcare providers.
- Must maintain confidentiality, accuracy, and attention to detail in patient documentation and medication administration.
- Ability to adapt to changing schedules, workflows, and patient volumes.
Environmental Conditions:
- Work performed in a clinical environment.
- Regular exposure to infectious diseases, bloodborne pathogens, and biohazardous materials.
- May handle cleaning agents, sterilization chemicals, and medical waste.
- Work areas are well-lit, temperature-controlled, and ergonomically arranged, though protective equipment may cause occasional discomfort.
- Noise levels generally moderate but may increase during high patient flow periods.
Working Conditions:
- Typically scheduled during regular business hours, but may require occasional extended hours or weekend shifts based on clinic operations.
- Works collaboratively with physicians, advanced practice providers, medical assistants, and administrative staff.
- May need to respond quickly to medical emergencies within the clinic.
- Must comply with all safety, infection control, and patient confidentiality regulations.
