Receiving Technician I
Job Summary
The Receiving Technician I supports the efficient and compliant intake of veterinary medications and supplies in a mail-order pharmacy environment. This role works closely with the Receiving Technician II to ensure accuracy, regulatory compliance, and proper handling of all incoming inventory. In addition to core receiving duties, the associate provides cross-functional support across picking, packing, and shipping operations to help maintain timely and accurate order fulfillment.
Job Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
Receiving & Inventory Support (30%)
- Receive, unload, and verify incoming shipments against purchase orders and packing documentation.
- Inspect products for damage, lot numbers, and expiration dates, escalating any issues to the Receiving Technician II.
- Assist the Receiving Technician II with intake procedures for prescription medications and regulated products.
- Accurately enter and update inventory in warehouse or pharmacy management systems.
- Label, sort, and stock inventory in appropriate storage areas, including refrigerated and controlled environments.
- Maintain clean, organized, and compliant receiving and storage areas.
Receiving Technician II Assistance (30%)
- Support the Receiving Technician II role in verifying compliance with pharmacy regulations and company SOPs.
- Assist with documentation of controlled substances, temperature-sensitive products, and prescription items.
- Help prepare records for audits, inspections, and quality checks.
- Follow direction from the Receiving Technician II for proper quarantine, returns, or disposal processes.
- Act as a backup to the Receiving Technician II for basic tasks when needed (as trained and authorized).
Regulatory & Quality Compliance (10%)
- Follow all pharmacy-related regulations, including proper handling of medications and controlled substances.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for traceability and audits.
- Adhere to safety, quality, and compliance standards at all times.
Picking, Packing & Shipping Support (20%)
- Assist in picking customer orders with high accuracy.
- Support packing processes, ensuring proper labeling, packaging, and documentation.
- Help stage and prepare outbound shipments for carrier pickup.
- Verify order accuracy to minimize errors and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate with shipping teams to meet daily production and delivery deadlines.
Cross-Functional Support (10%)
- Communicate effectively with inventory, purchasing, pharmacy, and fulfillment teams.
- Assist with cycle counts, inventory audits, and stock replenishment.
- Support continuous improvement efforts to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
- Provide general warehouse support as needed across departments.
Perform other duties as assigned.

- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1–2 years of receiving, warehouse, or distribution experience

- Receiving experience required (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
- Ability to read, write and speak English

Work Environment
Work will be performed indoors in a temperature-controlled climate where moderate heat, cold or humidity may be experienced. Moderate exposure to dust and dirt may also be expected. Work will typically be performed Monday through Friday. Working more than 40 hours per work week may be required.)
