About the role
Miebach Consulting is seeking a Senior Consultant, Supply Chain Engineering to lead the design and delivery of innovative supply chain solutions across North America. This role is ideal for an experienced engineering professional who combines strong technical expertise with client-facing consulting capabilities and is passionate about helping organizations transform their distribution, manufacturing, and logistics operations.
As a Senior Consultant, you will lead project workstreams, develop engineering solutions, mentor junior team members, and serve as a trusted advisor to client stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle. You will work closely with clients and internal project teams to analyze operations, evaluate technologies, develop facility and process designs, and support the implementation of strategic supply chain initiatives.
This position offers the opportunity to work with leading organizations across industries such as consumer goods, life sciences, retail, fashion and apparel, manufacturing, and logistics while developing expertise in supply chain engineering, automation, and operational transformation.
Key Responsibilities
Supply Chain Engineering and Design
- Lead engineering workstreams for supply chain consulting and implementation projects from project initiation through final recommendation and implementation planning
- Develop warehouse, distribution center, manufacturing, and logistics facility concepts and layouts
- Perform operational assessments, process analysis, capacity evaluations, and future-state design activities
- Develop labor models, throughput calculations, storage strategies, slotting concepts, and material flow analyses
- Evaluate automation technologies including ASRS, AMRs, conveyors, sortation systems, goods-to-person solutions, robotics, and warehouse execution technologies
- Support facility design activities from concept development through implementation planning
- Prepare engineering calculations, technical documentation, design recommendations, and executive-level presentations
- Develop business cases and investment analyses to support operational and automation initiatives
Client Engagement and Project Leadership
- Serve as the primary day-to-day client lead for assigned engineering workstreams
- Build and maintain strong relationships with client stakeholders across operational, managerial, and executive levels
- Facilitate workshops, design reviews, project meetings, and stakeholder discussions
- Translate operational challenges into practical and executable engineering solutions
- Present findings, recommendations, and project updates to client leadership teams
- Manage project scope, schedules, deliverables, and priorities for assigned workstreams
- Identify project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and proactively address client concerns
- Support successful project delivery while maintaining high levels of client satisfaction
Solution Development and Implementation Support
- Analyze operational and financial data to identify opportunities for performance improvement
- Support technology selection, vendor evaluations, solution comparisons, and procurement activities
- Develop implementation roadmaps and operational readiness plans
- Contribute to network optimization, facility planning, transportation, and distribution strategy initiatives
- Support implementation activities including commissioning, testing, training, and go-live readiness
- Develop recommendations that balance operational performance, financial objectives, and long-term scalability
Team Leadership and Practice Development
- Provide technical leadership, coaching, and mentorship to Consultants and Analysts
- Review project deliverables and support quality assurance efforts across engineering engagements
- Contribute to proposal development, client presentations, and business development initiatives
- Identify follow-on opportunities within existing client relationships and support account growth activities
- Contribute to thought leadership, internal knowledge sharing, and practice development initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain Engineering, Operations Research, Logistics, or a related field
- 5-10 years of professional experience in supply chain engineering, consulting, logistics, manufacturing, distribution, automation, or related fields
- Experience leading engineering analyses and delivering operational improvement recommendations
- Experience managing client-facing project workstreams and interacting directly with stakeholders
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver projects in a fast-paced consulting environment
- Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and engineering analysis tools
- Willingness to travel up to 40–60%
Preferred
- Experience within a consulting or professional services environment
- Experience designing distribution centers, warehouses, manufacturing facilities, or logistics operations
- Knowledge of warehouse automation and material handling technologies
- Experience with simulation, facility design, or engineering modeling tools
- Experience supporting WMS, WES, WCS, or systems implementation initiatives
- Exposure to supply chain network design, transportation optimization, or inventory strategy projects
- Experience supporting proposals, RFP responses, and business development efforts
- Lean, Six Sigma, PMP, PE, or other relevant professional certifications
