Mindful Care is seeking a Supervising Psychiatrist, MD to join our growing clinical team in a 1099 contract capacity, with the possibility of future transition to a full time employee role based on business needs, performance, and mutual fit.
This role will provide clinical oversight and support across service lines, with a focus on high quality, patient centered psychiatric care. The Supervising Psychiatrist will partner closely with the Medical Director to support clinical operations, guide multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to continued program development.
The ideal candidate is collaborative, flexible, clinically sound, and comfortable supporting a fast moving care environment. This is a strong opportunity for a psychiatrist who is interested in clinical leadership, supervision, ADHD treatment, recovery oriented care, and learning more about interventional psychiatry, including TMS.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a Supervising Psychiatrist across clinical service lines
- Provide clinical supervision, guidance, and support to psychiatric APPs, with supervision likely capped at approximately five APPs
- Partner directly with the Medical Director to support clinical operations, care delivery, and quality standards
- Provide timely clinical consultation to multidisciplinary team members as questions arise
- Support medication management guidance, particularly related to ADHD treatment and recovery oriented psychiatric care
- Assist with clinical oversight for addiction and recovery related services
- Support the development and refinement of clinical workflows, protocols, and best practices
- Participate in training related to ADHD care, addiction and recovery care, and TMS
- Support TMS program oversight, with training provided for candidates who are interested and willing to learn
- Collaborate with leadership to identify clinical needs, improve care delivery, and support team effectiveness
- Remain flexible and responsive in a dynamic clinical environment where volume and needs may vary day to day
What Success Looks Like
The right candidate will be able to move comfortably between slower clinical oversight periods and higher intensity moments where multiple team members need guidance at once. This person should be able to prioritize well, stay calm under pressure, and quickly lock in when clinical questions or operational needs arise.
Success in this role requires strong judgment, clear communication, and the ability to support clinical teams with confidence, professionalism, and a patient centered mindset.
Qualifications
MD degree from an accredited medical school required- Completion of an accredited psychiatry residency required
- Active New York medical license required prior to start
- Active New York DEA registration required prior to start
- Board eligible or board certified in Psychiatry required
- Board certification in Addiction Medicine preferred
- Experience in addiction treatment, recovery oriented care, or substance use related services strongly preferred
- Experience treating ADHD or strong interest in ADHD medication management highly desirable
- Interest in learning and supporting TMS required, prior TMS experience preferred but not required
- Prior experience supervising APPs preferred, but not required
- Strong clinical judgment and comfort providing real time guidance to clinical staff
- Ability to collaborate effectively with psychiatrists, APPs, therapists, operations leaders, and administrative teams
- Ability to work onsite in the office for at least one shift per week
Schedule and Work Arrangement
This is a part time 1099 contract role. Anticipated hours may range from approximately 10 to 15 hours per week, based on clinical need and candidate availability.
At least 50 percent of scheduled hours should be onsite at our West Hempstead office when working within this range. Availability Tuesday through Thursday is strongly preferred, as these tend to be higher volume clinical days.
Evening availability is required, with the ability to provide coverage until approximately 7:00 PM.
Training
The Supervising Psychiatrist will complete Mindful Care's standard onboarding process and will receive direct training and support from the Medical Director. Training will include relevant clinical workflows, ADHD care, addiction and recovery care, and TMS program oversight.
Prior TMS experience is not required, but the candidate must be open to learning and supporting the program.
