About the Role
As a Copywriter, Social & Digital at Monks, your words will inform, engage, and move audiences for one of the world's biggest CPG food companies. This isn't a role for someone who waits for the brief — it's for a writer who scrolls with intent, thinks in formats, and knows exactly what makes a thumb stop mid-swipe. You'll be part of a nimble, AI-forward creative team, owning short-form copy across social, digital media, and always-on content, bringing cultural fluency and genuine craft to everything from a six-word caption to a paid social headline.
Responsibilities:
- Concept and write scroll-stopping copy across exisiting and emerging social platforms — understanding the distinct voice, format, and audience behavior of each.
- Craft thumb-stopping hooks, opening lines, and visual anchors that earn attention in the first 1–2 seconds of content.
- Translate brand strategy and creative briefs into sharp, on-brand short-form copy for paid and organic social, display banners, digital OOH, and in-feed video.
- Go beyond the brief — proactively pitch ideas, creative territories, and copy experiments that push the work further than what was asked for.
- Collaborate closely with Art Directors, Designers, CDs, and Project Managers on projects of all scales, ensuring copy and visuals land as one unified idea.
- Maintain and evolve the brand's social voice, keeping consistency across always-on content while staying responsive to cultural moments, trends, and reactive opportunities.
- Write and contribute to compelling creative decks for internal and client-facing presentations — because how you sell the idea matters as much as the idea itself.
- Stay plugged into food culture, CPG trends, meme formats, and platform algorithm shifts — translating those insights into timely, relevant copy.
- Continuously raise the bar for writing quality, developing yourself and elevating the people around you through shared craft.
- Embrace and evolve your creative process alongside emerging AI tools — using them to move faster and think bigger, not replace your instincts.
- Use SEO principles to maximize copy's reach
About You
The essentials:
- 4–6 years of copywriting experience at a creative agency, social-first studio, or in-house brand team — with a portfolio spanning multiple tones of voice across multiple brands.
- A demonstrable command of short form copy craft: you understand that a caption is not an afterthought, a headline is not a label, and character count is a creative constraint worth respecting.
- Comfort writing for video scripts and on-screen text — understanding how copy lives in motion.
- Proven experience writing for social and digital platforms, with fluency in how copy performs differently across paid vs. organic and native vs. boosted formats.
- Sharp instincts for what makes content stop the scroll — whether that's a provocative question, an unexpected POV, a cultural reference, or a dead-simple truth said in a fresh way.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with an obsessive eye for detail.
- A proactive, self-starting mindset — you bring ideas without being prompted, flag opportunities before they're missed, and take ownership from brief to final asset.
- Strong time-management and organizational skills; you can juggle multiple briefs simultaneously without letting quality slip.
Not a must, but a plus:
- Experience writing for CPG, food & beverage, or lifestyle brands
- Familiarity with performance marketing copy
- Experience writing for SEO
