Position Summary: Mount Mary University invites applications for a part-time Adjunct Instructor of English to teach first-year composition and related writing courses. The successful candidate will teach one or more sections of first-year writing as part of a cohorted model. Adjunct faculty are expected to provide high-quality instruction, maintain regular communication with students, assess student learning effectively, and collaborate with department faculty to support student success and the mission of Mount Mary University.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality instruction to students
- Effectively assess student learning
- Maintain regular communication with students using both email and Mount Mary University's LMS
- Collaborate with department faculty to support student success and the mission of Mount Mary University
- Participate in group assessment for the composition program
Skills and Experience:
- Familiarity with current composition pedagogy and student-centered pedagogy
- Experience working with students from a wide range of backgrounds, including first-generation college students, multilingual writers, and students from historically underrepresented communities
- Demonstrated commitment to promoting inclusiveness and cultural competence
- Experience and understanding of current issues and developments in higher education
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Qualifications:
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary duties satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform primary functions.
- A master's degree in French
- College-level teaching experience is preferred
Physical Demands:
- Must sit, walk or stand
- Some repetitive motion may be required
