SUMMARY: National Capital Treatment & Recovery, formerly Phoenix House, a nonprofit substance use treatment facility in Arlington, VA is hiring Medical Technicians to assist the Medical Department with completing administrative tasks within the Adult Women Residential Program. This position requires office skills and knowledge of medical terminology and, clinic or laboratory procedures.
Two Shifts Available:
Part-Time: Weekend Overnight - Saturday 12am-8am & Sunday 12am-8am
Full-Time: Monday-Friday Overnight 12am-8am
Pay Range: $23-$29 hourly based on background and experience
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrates knowledge of patient rights.
- Assist with medication pass
- Serves as advocate for patient and families.
- Advocates for unit needs. Consistently works well with all members of the healthcare team.
- Maintains a collaborative relationship among healthcare team by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; participating in team problem-solving methods.
- Ordering supplies
- Schedule staff meetings
- Send out meeting minutes
- Complete Prior authorizations
- Complete billing documentation for outside vendors
- Prepare patient charts
- Compile new staff orientation packets
- Assist with monthly chart audits
- Additional duties as assigned
- Attend and participate in scheduled staff meetings as required
- Responsible for maintaining ethical standards and continued professional growth, including
Abide by Program and NCTR policy and procedures
Ensure all CARF standards are instituted and maintained
Promote, in public and private contacts, the quality standards and ethical practices of NCTR staff.
Continue professional growth by attending workshops, trainings and staff in-service trainings to increase skill an knowledge and to set appropriate example for staff
Maintain current licensure/certification including CPR, First Aid, and Medication Management
Maintain professional boundaries with staff and clients

§ Interpersonal skills: This skill set, which includes the ability to understand body language, and negotiate with and persuade people, will help you in your interaction with patients, doctors or other health care professionals, and colleagues.
§ Organizational skills: You will be required to keep track of insurance forms, schedules, patient charts/files, and office supplies.
