Job Description
NRECA is a unique national trade association providing advocacy, financial services and business support services to over 900 consumer owned electric cooperatives across the country. Summary of Position
The Personal Investment and Retirement Consulting (PIRC) provides investment and retirement education to participants in NRECA’s defined benefit and defined contribution plans. We are seeking a new team member from the financial services industry to provide personalized verbal and written investment and retirement education to plan participants (active and retired/separated). That education is provided through 1) one-on-one conversations over phone or in person, 2) conducting seminars virtually or in person, and 3) providing written asset allocation and retirement plans specific to the individual.
Individuals in this position will be based in the field in an assigned territory (West Coast/CA, OR, WA, AK & HI), requiring travel up to 90% of the time. In addition, Planners assigned to a field territory will serve as the local PIRC presence, participating in employer-and board-level discussions and presentations to communicate available services and support co-op needs. Applicants must live in WA state or Oregon.
Key Responsibilities
Provides confidential, personalized verbal and written investment and retirement education and financial planning consulting to plan participants (active and retired/separated).
Conducts on-site standardized presentations for employees of member organizations for groups of 10 – 100 people. Presentations may be from 1 hour to 1.5 days to include other speakers.
Responds to requests generated through other planners, seminars and member contact services over the phone and by email.
Assesses the need for and refers appropriate participants to PIRC services for written asset allocation and retirement plans. Review such plans with participants upon completion.
Build and maintains an extensive knowledge base on a broad range of financial planning and pension topics, including: NRECA’s policies and products, the latest legal and business developments in the areas of retirement/investment planning, education funding, personal portfolio management, securities, life insurance/annuities, tax laws and estate planning issues; as well as Social Security and Medicare.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in the arts, sciences or business required
Must possess a professional designation such as CFP®, CEBS®, ChFC®, CLU, CRPC®, or RICP® or if previously maintained Series 6, 7, 63, 65 or 66 license, must obtain a professional designation such as CFP®, CEBS®, ChFC®, CLU, CRPC®, or RICP® within two years.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in business, finance, accounting, securities, insurance or pension plans consulting individuals on financial planning issues.
A background in servicing clients as a financial planner or relationship manager.
Essential Physical Requirements:
- The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal and extensive reading.
- Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
Salary Range: $106,000.00 - $129,000 annual salary
Final compensation determined by individual qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
