Position Overview
The Clinical Training Specialist (Licensed Behavior Specialist or BCBA) is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and delivery of clinical education and quality initiatives across the organization. This role ensures clinical staff receive consistent onboarding, ongoing education, competency-based training, and support in implementing organizational standards and evidence-based practices.
The Clinical Training Specialist collaborates with the Director of Quality & Compliance, clinical leadership, and operational leadership to support the design, implementation, and delivery of clinical training, coaching, and educational initiatives. Through this collaborative partnership, the role helps promote consistency, clinical excellence, and alignment with organizational priorities while supporting the ongoing development of clinical staff.
What you will do as a Clinical Training Specialist:
Clinical Education & Training
- Deliver standardized onboarding for ABA clinical staff.
- Develop, facilitate and update instructor-led, virtual, and self-paced clinical education programs in alignment with clinical leadership.
- Create and maintain training materials, presentations, competency checklists, job aids, and educational resources.
- Coordinate organization-wide implementation of new clinical workflows, documentation standards, and quality initiatives.
- Ensure training materials remain current with organizational policies, payer requirements, and regulatory expectations.
Clinical Quality Support
- Assist the Director of Quality & Compliance with organization-wide quality improvement initiatives.
- Reinforce clinical documentation standards and best practices through training, education, and follow-up support.
- Conduct documentation reviews and competency assessments as assigned.
- Provide individualized coaching and remediation to impacted staff following quality audits.
- Assist in preparing for internal audits, payer audits, and accreditation activities.
Clinical Collaboration
- Partner with Clinical Directors, Clinical Managers, Practice Managers, and Operations leaders to identify training needs and support performance improvement efforts.
- Support new clinical initiatives through education and implementation planning.
- Promote consistency in clinical practice, training expectations, and documentation standards across all locations.
- Serve as a clinical education resource for staff regarding documentation standards, policies, and organizational expectations.
Learning & Development
- Assist in developing and refining clinical competency pathways for new and existing staff.
- Track training completion, competencies, and continuing education requirements.
- Evaluate training effectiveness through observations, assessments, audits, and feedback.
- Recommend improvements to educational content based on quality metrics and organizational needs.
What you will need:
Education
- Master's degree in Psychology, Education, Applied Behavior Analysis, Counseling, Social Work, or a related behavioral health field.
Licensure
- Current Pennsylvania Licensed Behavior Specialist (LBS) required or BCBA.
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience providing behavioral health services.
- Experience training or mentoring clinical staff preferred.
- Experience in ABA, IBHS, or pediatric behavioral health strongly preferred.
- Experience with clinical documentation, quality assurance, and healthcare compliance preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong understanding of Applied Behavior Analysis principles and behavioral health services.
- Knowledge of Pennsylvania IBHS regulations and documentation requirements.
- Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
- Strong written communication and instructional design abilities.
- Ability to coach and educate clinicians using a collaborative approach.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to analyze quality trends and translate findings into educational opportunities.
- Proficiency with CentralReach, Microsoft Office, and Learning Management Systems preferred.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
- Estimated 100 % travel, dependent on need.
- Frequent travel between clinic locations to facilitate training, conduct competency assessments, support quality initiatives, and assist with implementation of new programs.
- Occasional overnight travel may be required for regional meetings, trainings, or special projects.
This job operates in a clinic, home, or school environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as a computer/tablet and phone.
- Ability to facilitate classroom, virtual, and hands-on clinical training sessions.
- Ability to stand for extended periods while conducting trainings or observations.
- Ability to lift and transport training materials and equipment up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to work in office, clinic, and community-based settings.
