New England Life Care is hiring a full-time Clinical Pharmacists for our Scarborough Branch to join our growing team! This ideal candidates for these positions will have IV experience, a positive demeanor, and pay meticulous attention to detail. Unlike retail pharmacies, you will not spend most of your time interacting with customers, will be in a comfortable environment with like-minded professionals, won’t have to rotate from location to location, and will be able to sharpen your skills as a pharmacist!
Job Summary: The Clinical Pharmacist in this position is responsible for providing comprehensive clinical pharmacy services for NELC patients receiving home infusion therapy.

Responsibilities:
- Reviews prescriptions issued by physicians / authorized prescribers to assure accuracy and determine formulas and ingredients needed for dispensing the order.
- Collaboratively assesses the suitability of each patient for home infusion therapy.
- Assists the referral source in developing and implementing a plan for each patient’s smooth transition from hospital to home.
- Develops, implements, and monitors patient’s individualized plan of care to include setting of therapeutic goals, monitoring of progress to goals and ongoing communication with prescribing physician.
- Acts as a clinical resource for all members of the healthcare team on the appropriate use of medications, possible drug interactions, medication side effects, dosage, and storage information.
- Provides written education materials and verbal consultation, as needed, to patients and / or caregivers relative to the medication prescribed for home infusion.
- Demonstrates competency in the preparation / compounding / dispensing of medications according to NELC policies and procedures.
- Monitors all physician orders for drug/drug interactions, duplication of therapy and appropriateness of drug order. Makes recommendations for change(s) to physician in a timely manner.
- Detects and evaluates the clinical importance of adverse drug reactions and complications associated with home infusion therapy informing the physician as required.
- Comprehensively documents patient’s progress to goals of therapy and all communication re: patient status and changes in therapy according to JCAHO documentation standards.
- Effectively communicates patient requirements and changes in patient status to appropriate members of infusion and reimbursement teams as well as the HHA staff involved in meeting the patient’s home health needs.
- Demonstrates competency in the use and management of medication administration equipment.
- Ensures that confidentiality of patient information is maintained in accordance with state and HIPAA Privacy and Security regulations.
Educational / Professional Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited school of pharmacy.
- Registered Pharmacist, in good standing, with a valid license.
Skills:
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as dosage calculation, formulation of pharmaceutical preparations and data analysis.
- Ability to define problems, collect / analyze data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all customers and at all levels of the NELC organization verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently as well as a part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Doctorate of Pharmacy degree.
- Knowledge of HIPAA Privacy and Security Regulations.
- Knowledge of JCAHO accreditation process and overall JCAHO standards.
- Working / practical knowledge of microcomputer systems including patient documentation systems, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), automated pharmacy systems, and IV Laminar flow Hood.
- Two (2) years’ experience in the field of intravenous admixing of all types required, with an understanding of stability and compounding.
Pay Information:
- Posted are the minimum and the maximum wage rates on the wage range for this position. The successful candidate's placement on the wage range for this position will be determined based upon relevant job experience and other applicable factors. These amounts are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, or extra shift incentives.
