As a key member of the Nursing team, you will support the daily operations of both the Nursing Simulation Lab and Nursing Skills Lab by:
We’re looking for someone who is:

- Set up, test, and operate high-fidelity simulators and related equipment for scheduled lab sessions.
- Prepare lab environments (beds, IVs, task trainers, medical equipment) to align with faculty-developed clinical scenarios.
- Support faculty with scenario implementation and troubleshoot technical issues during simulation sessions.
- Break down simulation setups and reset labs for subsequent use.
- Provide technical orientation to faculty and students regarding simulation equipment and lab procedures.
Participate in the nursing laboratory activities by:
- Creating a clinical environment aligned with current practice seen in local healthcare agencies through the use of electronic health records and patient charts, automated medication dispensing machines, simulated medications, and other treatments pertinent to the nursing curricula
- Assist, as needed, with preparing materials and nursing laboratories ahead of scheduled lab sessions
- Assisting with nursing skills as needed by nursing laboratory faculty
- Maintaining documentation of students’ hands-on skill practice and communicates with course faculty, as needed
- Assist with the creation of electronic sign-ups for laboratory hands-on skill practice
- Provide guidance and redirection to students reviewing hands-on laboratory skills
- Promote student success by clarifying any concerns about laboratory skill procedure(s) used for assessing students’ hands-on skill assessment(s), as needed
- Assist with documenting student attendance, as needed
- Assisting students in the use of laboratory equipment and computers used in the laboratory setting
- Assist with the research, obtaining of bids, and ordering of supplies and equipment for use by faculty and all students, as needed.
- Prepares budget information as requested. Works with the lead Nursing Skills Lab TA, and Nursing Lab Coordinator as part of the Skills Lab team
- Maintaining mannequins, cleans equipment, reports, and ensures repairs and maintenance is done as needed. Communicates with appropriate laboratory faculty about equipment-related concerns and coordinates maintenance and repair, as needed.
- Maintain inventory of supplies, reorder consumables, and ensure availability of simulation materials.
- Manage lab security and cleanliness protocols.
- Maintaining inventory of supplies and equipment used in nursing skills laboratories. Recommends repairs and replacement, as needed.
- Attend lab/simulation planning meetings and collaborate with Nursing faculty to support instructional goals.
- Participate in student simulations to provide operational support and ensure realism.
- Other duties as assigned by the Dean of the College of Nursing, Physical & Allied Health.
- Associates Degree in Nursing
- Current NYS Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Experience using software and systems associated with medical simulation
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nursing
- Experience using course management system such as Brightspace
- Familiarity with high-fidelity simulation equipment (e.g., Laerdal, CAE, or Gaumard) and software.
- Experience with programming scenario applications for simulation;
- Recent experience (within previous 5 years) in acute medical/surgical area;
- Experience working in a college learning environment.
