About Us
We are a premier home health agency that actually knows what "OT" stands for. No, we won’t ask you to find our patients a new career. We know you are the masters of the "Job of Living". We love helping people regain independence in their own territory. We are looking for an Occupational Therapist who treats the whole person, loves a flexible schedule, and doesn’t mind using a steering wheel as a dining table.
What You’ll Actually Do (The Real Job Description)
- Correct Everyone: Spend roughly 30% of your day gently reminding patients, families, and random doctors that you are not the Physical Therapist.
- Bathroom Masterclass: Master the art of analyzing toilet setups and shower configurations while trying not to look like a professional burglar.
- Bathing Negotiations: Explain to patients that "home health" means you are coaching them to bathe themselves safely, not personally operating as their twice-a-week luxury spa attendant.
- Environmental MacGyvering: Use soup cans, rolled-up towels, and cheap grip tape to adapt an entire house before the actual durable medical equipment (DME) arrives.
- The Car Office Shuffle: Perfect your mobile workspace setup, balancing a laptop, a coffee cup, and five adaptive shoehorns between client visits.
- Post-Shift Buffering: Spend 5-10 minutes sitting in total, glorious silence in your car after a chaotic evaluation before starting your documentation.
What We’re Looking For
- A Valid License: A current, legal license to practice Occupational Therapy in this state.
- Boundary Explorer: Someone who can walk into a home packed to the ceiling with 40 years of porcelain cat statues and instantly spot the path of least resistance for a walker.
- Bladder Control: The elite ability to calculate exactly which local gas stations or fast-food joints have the cleanest public restrooms along your daily route.
- PT Partner in Crime: Ability to coordinate with our physical therapy team without rolling your eyes when they ask you to work on "upper extremity strength" again.
- Documentation Survival Skills: A person who can conquer electronic medical records software without throwing their tablet out the window.
Now the Real Stuff:
No Place Like Home Health is a veteran-owned, small, independent provider dedicated to delivering skilled medical services—including occupational therapy—along with non-medical personal and companion care. Our mission is to enable individuals to remain in the comfort and safety of their own homes for as long as possible, supporting seniors, adults with disabilities, and those transitioning from hospitals or assisted living facilities.
Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and energetic PRN (as-needed) Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will deliver personalized therapy services across diverse settings such as inpatient units, outpatient clinics, schools, home health environments, and skilled nursing facilities. Your expertise will help clients regain independence, improve daily functioning, and achieve their health goals through tailored care plans. This position offers flexible scheduling and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in patients’ lives.
Responsibilities
- Assess clients’ functional abilities and develop customized treatment plans focused on improving activities of daily living (ADLs), mobility, and overall independence
- Implement therapeutic interventions for a wide range of populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, individuals with autism, disabilities, or recovering from injury or illness
- Assist patients with discharge planning by coordinating care transitions and providing home exercise programs or recommendations
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including speech therapists, physicians, case managers, and caregivers to optimize patient outcomes
- Document patient progress accurately in medical records and update care plans regularly
- Educate patients and families on therapy techniques, safety measures, and adaptive equipment use
- Participate in case management activities to ensure comprehensive patient support across settings
Qualifications
- Valid state licensure as an Occupational Therapist with current registration and licensing requirements met
- Experience working in acute care settings such as ICU or hospital units is highly desirable
- Prior skilled nursing facility experience or post-acute care background preferred
- Familiarity with working in outpatient clinics, home health environments, schools, or early intervention programs is a plus
- Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and therapy techniques relevant to diverse patient populations
- Strong skills in assisting with ADLs, discharge planning, case management and developing individualized care plans
- Ability to work effectively with people of all ages including pediatrics and geriatrics; experience working with individuals with autism or disabilities is advantageous
- Excellent communication skills for patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration
Join us to be part of a dedicated team committed to enhancing lives through personalized occupational therapy services. We value your expertise and enthusiasm as we work together to support our clients' independence and well-being!
Benefits:
- 401(k) matching
- Mileage reimbursement
