The Director of Clinical Quality is responsible for providing leadership, operational oversight, and administrative direction for all clinic functions across the organization. This role ensures high quality patient care, continuous improvement of clinical outcomes, and adherence to financial, regulatory, and performance goals. The Director of Clinical Quality oversees Regional Center Administrators, supports interdisciplinary clinical teams, and serves as a liaison between clinic operations, senior leadership, and community partners.
Role & Responsibilities
Clinical Operations Leadership & Performance
- Leads patient care services in our medical clinics in ways that ensure continuous improvement of outcomes, as well as the fulfillment of budgeted performance goals.
- Represents the leadership team to the clinic staff and licensed providers, promoting interdisciplinary care and treatment of patients, holding staff accountable to the NHS mission, the strategic plan, the annual budget, shorter-term company goals and ensuring the long-term financial viability of NHS.
- Partners with Chief Officers, other Directors, providers and clinic staff in creating and/or coordinating program planning, revising policies/procedures, and timely providing necessary reports or other data to those who need them.
- Reviews monthly statistical reports; monitors and reviews clinic productivity and profitability.
- Maintains an occasional but regular presence in the clinics to facilitate informed supervision of RCAs and help ensure adequate communication between clinics and administration. The person holding this position is expected to travel to clinic locations as necessary ensure proper supervision of clinics and medical care.
Staff Supervision, Communication & Team Leadership
- Provides direct supervision to Regional Center Administrators (RCAs) and conducts annual performance reviews.
- Ensures routine communication among RCAs. Discusses pertinent issues, workload, questions, concerns and addresses performance concerns.
- Treats all individuals respectfully, whether it is a patient, fellow employee, member of management, customer, vendor, or visitor, and models professional behavior.
- Participates as necessary or requested, in New Employee Orientation, as a representative of NHS management, particularly with regard to introducing new employees to NHS’ Electronic Health Record.
Organizational Planning, Policy Development & Program Oversight
- Works cooperatively with NHS providers and personnel to carry out the goals and objectives of the company, according to established policies and procedures.
- Partners with leadership and providers to plan programs, revise policies, and provide needed reports.
- Analyzes and recommends changes in organizational systems, policies and procedures as necessary or requested.
- Maintains strict confidentiality of confidential business information, routinely manages multiple short-term assignments/projects as requested; meets appropriate timeframes.
- Assists in meeting grant obligations; creates/supplies related reports when applicable.
- Works closely with Clinical and Non-Clinical teams for improvement on key performance indicators, designs processes for new initiatives, services and other targets prioritized by Northwest Health Services leadership.
Quality Improvement, Patient Safety & Regulatory Compliance
- Provides oversight of the company’s system-wide Quality Improvement and PCMH programs; to include but not limited to data collection, aggregating and analyzing data, maintaining policies and procedures and issuing reports as necessary to make relevant staff aware of outcomes and performance.
- Serves as a standing member of QI, QA, Patient Safety, and Risk Management committees.
- Coordinates all accreditation and deeming activities (FTCA, HRSA, etc.), ensuring organization remains current and compliant with all standards and/or requirements.
- Works with relevant leaders and departments to regularly conduct random audits of NHS employee access of the EHR for the purpose of ensuring the privacy of patient information.
- Performs quality audits and track metrics related to clinical application use.
- Conducts random EHR audits to ensure privacy and compliance.
Electronic Health Record (EHR) Leadership & Data Integrity
- Analyzes, evaluates and makes recommendations for the utilization and maximization of NHS’ Electronic Health Record, as well as ensures the education of NHS staff regarding EHR functionality.
- Provides leadership and oversight to ensure data integrity of the EHR.
- Conducts research as necessary to identify best practices in the field of healthcare information technology or to meet organizational needs.
- Oversees updates and maintenance of the EHR and relevant related software.
- Serves as the foremost Electronic Health Records resource for the organization.
External Representation & Community Engagement
- Participates in NHS committees and occasionally in community events in Northwest Missouri, as assigned by your supervisor.
- Acts as an administrative liaison to our health-controlled network, ensuring effective coordination, communication, and alignment.
Education & Experience
- Active Registered Nurse licensure in Missouri.
- 10+ years of healthcare management experience.
- Possess the ability to understand and experience disciplines such as personnel, administration, office practice management, health education, community relations, and basic accounting.
- Knowledge of conventional medical office procedures.
- Maintain a valid motor vehicle operator license.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Read, write, spell, and perform mathematical calculations.
- Drive long distances if necessary.
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing (using professional grammar, spelling, and punctuation).
- Identify and act on implied tasks.
- Ability to organize and set priorities in order to function in a professional manner and meet deadlines.
