New York State Teacher Assistant Certification required
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or bachelor's degree preferred
Previous experience working with children or adolescents in a school, childcare, mentoring, youth development, or similar setting preferred
Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Ability to provide classroom coverage and support instruction under the direction of school staff
Ability to supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, and other school settings
Comfortable assisting with administrative and operational tasks as needed
Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and support staff
Professional, dependable, flexible, and able to adapt to changing daily assignments
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Google Workspace, preferred

OWN Charter Schools (OWNCS) is seeking a reliable, flexible, and student-centered Teaching Assistant to support the daily operations of our middle school. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with students while also assisting with the administrative and operational needs of the school.

The Teaching Assistant will provide classroom coverage when teachers are absent or attending meetings, assist with student supervision, support instructional activities, help with school operations, and work closely with teachers and administrators to ensure a safe, organized, and productive learning environment. This position requires someone who is adaptable, proactive, and comfortable balancing classroom support with school-wide responsibilities.

Pay & Benefits

Salary

Rate Range: $17.50 – $22.00 based on education, certification, years of relevant experience, and verified prior service.

Schedule

This is a 10-month instructional position, with salary and benefits distributed evenly over 12 months to ensure consistent income and year-round coverage.
