Qualifications

Work Experience

2 years of Registered Dental Assisting, taking X-rays and working with patients.

Education

High School diploma, Completion of accredited Dental Assisting with Coronal Polish, X-Ray License, CPR Certification; Must have and maintain: California RDA License, DEA License, BLS Certification

Examples of Duties

• Prepare patient, sterilize or disinfect instruments, set up instrument trays, prepare materials, or assist dentist during dental procedures
• Expose dental diagnostic x-rays
• Record treatment information in patient records
• Provide postoperative instructions prescribed by dentist
• Assist dentist in management of medical or dental emergencies(per regulations listed below)
• Take and record medical and dental histories and vital signs of patients
• Instruct patients in oral hygiene and plaque control programs
• Order and monitor dental supplies and equipment inventory
• Make preliminary impressions for study casts and occlusal registrations for mounting study casts
• Perform Cleanings, X-Rays and Coronal Polishing
• Maintains and enhances competency through in-services, staff meetings and educational programs. Meets state licensing requirements for continuing medical education.
• Use masks, gloves and safety glasses to protect themselves and their patients from infectious diseases

• Clean and polish removable appliances
