Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Accountable for maintaining the department’s annual budget, ongoing PO processing, and vendor approval.
- Works with the other divisions as necessary to ensure full maintenance training and support throughout the company.
- Accountable for all OSHA-required safety training and administration within the department.
- Works closely with outside vendors to ensure issues are resolved immediately.
- Works on job duties and assignments as they relate to maintenance, repair, installing, fabricating, adjusting, troubleshooting, and any other maintenance duties as needed.
- Responsible for scheduled preventive maintenance checks.
- Responsible for departmental inventory control.
- Diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions and operating difficulties.
- Perform mechanical, electrical, and plumbing operations.
- Performs start-up and shutdown functions on plant equipment and facilities as required.
- Respond to emergency calls on a twenty-four-hour basis.
- Works consistently to resolve cited safety issues promptly.
- Responsible for maintaining departmental documentation as required.
- Always working safely in compliance with OSHA safety and EPA regulations.
- Adheres to all Quality System procedures and work instructions.
- Participate in the handling, labeling, containment, and disposal of hazardous waste.
- Performs other miscellaneous job duties and related functions as needed.
- Supervises, develops, and coaches team leads in all aspects of the job, including the proper techniques, work instructions, production methods, quality assurance, and plant operation.
- Maintains strong relationships with employees including continuous communication and performance feedback to recognize contributions and address performance gaps.
- Responsible for the achievement of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)/goals in collaboration with other internal departments.
- Promotes communication and teamwork with a focus on safety, quality, efficiency, and good housekeeping throughout the plant.
- Works in conjunction with Human Resources on all personnel issues including performance management and necessary disciplinary actions defined in the Pioneer Metal Finishing handbook.
- Conducts annual and periodic performance reviews in alignment with company processes and timeframes. Includes recommending pay increases within company guidelines.
- Develops job-specific training content and supports on-the-job training programs and ensures compliance for training completion of required programs.
- Ensures workforce adheres to policies of the company handbook.
- Represents the company professionally when always interacting with customers and vendors.
- Assists in planning labor requirements, adjusting as necessary to maintain flexibility to meet customer needs. Manages labor costs within budget.
- Identifies opportunities for improvement and potential solutions to close the gap. Engages team members in implementing process improvements. Understands how to elevate large opportunities to key stakeholders within the organization.
- Performs other miscellaneous job duties and related functions as needed.
Work Environment
- Sharp parts, sharp tooling, heaving carts, seasonal high temperature, and humidity levels, moderate noise levels, limited hand and air tool use, compressed air (must use hearing protection).
- Must be able to wear respiratory protection when required.
- Must be able to lift 30-50 lbs. unassisted.
- Potential splash exposure near lines.
- Various chemicals are used in the process.
Education/Qualifications
- A minimum of an associate degree in Electro-Mechanical or another related Mechanical field is preferred, but not necessary.
- Requires broad-based knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing acquired through hands-on training.
- Minimum of two (4) years of work-related and leadership experience required.
- Blueprint and schematic knowledge are helpful.
- Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely, creative manner.
- Lean manufacturing experience preferred.
- ISO certification experience preferred.
- Must maintain a “Hands-on” style, willing and capable of taking a lead role in technical problem-solving efforts.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively and cooperatively with employees, vendors, and customers at all levels.
