What You'll Do and Who We Are Looking For
We are seeking a dedicated full-time Instructional Support Technician IV to join our team at the Rock Creek campus. This role is pivotal to the success of our Diesel Service Technology program, where you will provide critical support to our instructional team, mentor the next generation of industry technicians, and foster the development of student talent. You will play a vital role in our program's mission to advance workforce readiness by maintaining high-quality lab experiences, facilitating hands-on learning, and directly contributing to broader industry employment goals.
Scope of Work:
Under the technical direction of one or more members of the faculty or an instructional administrator, maintains shop equipment, machines, tools, toolroom, prepares laboratories and classrooms for instructors; participates in the delivery of the actual instruction and provides student supervision, assistance and evaluation and/or has been assigned lead responsibilities over classified staff.
Additional Job Description:
Principal Accountabilities (includes some or all of the following):
- Student Support & Instruction: Assists students with equipment and instructional materials, facilitates lab experiences, evaluates student progress, and may lecture on specific competencies under faculty guidance.
- Procurement & Inventory: Manages purchasing of supplies and equipment using college protocols, tracks expenditures, reconciles budgets, and maintains inventory of materials and tools, including coordinating repairs.
- Operational Coordination: Oversees toolroom operations, establishes safety/usage procedures, and ensures proper orientation to shop machinery and personal protective equipment.
- Administration & Outreach: Participates in departmental/advisory meetings, acts as a point of contact for the program, and maintains accurate records of shop activities.
- Compliance & Safety: Manages hazardous materials protocols, maintains safety documentation (MSDS), and ensures a clean, secure work environment.
- Physical Requirements: Requires ability to perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 lbs, along with obtaining PCC forklift certification

Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent and two years of post-secondary education in the Diesel Service discipline.
- Three years of experience in the diesel industry are required; relevant experience may substitute for the post-secondary education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
- Must have proven written and oral communications skills adequate to assist students in understanding the work they are to perform.
- Proven ability to lead others and evaluate performance.
- Depending on the course laboratory assignment, some positions may also require specialized knowledge and program-specific certifications.

- Demonstrated current technical knowledge of Diesel Service Technology
- Demonstrated proficiency using basic technology (for example updating an Excel spreadsheet, Word and email.)
- Remains current in the field and demonstrates a commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Knowledge of and commitment to a culture of safety.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Experience working in a culturally diverse environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Recent training experience, particularly as a mentor in a diesel repair facility
