Position Summary:
The Director of Finance is responsible for providing strategic financial leadership and oversight for PQC. This position directs all financial operations, including invoicing, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, internal controls, compliance, and long-term financial planning. The Director of Finance will work with executive leadership to support organizational growth, operational excellence, and sound financial decision-making.
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Lead the annual budgeting process and multi-year financial planning.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial forecasts.
- Monitor financial performance and recommend corrective actions to achieve organizational objectives.
Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly and annual financial statements.
- Coordinate annual audits and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors.
Cash & Risk Management
- Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard organizational assets.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks.
- Oversee banking relationships, investments, insurance, and financing activities.
Compliance
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations.
- Maintain financial policies and procedures.
- Support tax reporting and regulatory filings.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and accounting team.
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and team member engagement.
- Evaluate departmental performance and implement best practices.
Operational Support
- Collaborate with department leaders to develop budgets and monitor expenses.
- Analyze operational performance and identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required.
Experience
- 5-8 years of progressively responsible financial management experience.
- At least 1–3 years in a senior leadership role.
- Experience leading budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and audits.
- Experience with government invoicing platforms (preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Advanced financial analysis and forecasting skills.
- Experience with Sage or other financial management systems.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management experience.
Working Conditions
- Full-time, exempt position.
- Primarily office-based.
- May require extended hours during budget preparation, audits, or fiscal year-end activities.
