POSITION PURPOSE

The Security Analyst I – Security Engineering supports the implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of security controls that help protect the organization’s systems, networks, and data. This role focuses on assisting with the technical enforcement of security policies, supporting secure system configurations, and monitoring security activity under the guidance of senior security personnel. The Security Analyst I works closely with IT and infrastructure teams to help assess vulnerabilities, support incident response activities, and contribute to the organization’s overall security posture. Success in this role requires analytical ability, attention to detail, willingness to learn, and a foundation understanding of security engineering practices and principles.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

• Assist in the implementation and maintenance of technical security controls across networks, systems, and endpoints
• Monitor system activity and security alerts to identify potential security incidents or policy violations, escalating as appropriate.
• Support vulnerability assessments and remediation efforts through documentation, validation, and coordination with technical teams.
• Assist with maintaining and applying baseline security configurations across infrastructure components.
• Participate in internal security audits and compliance reviews by gathering evidence and supporting documentation.
• Document security-related procedures, configurations, findings, and system changes.
• Assist in investigating security incidents and support evidence collection and root cause analysis activities.
• Collaborate with IT, infrastructure, and operations teams to help ensure security requirements are met across systems
• Follow established security standards and contribute to improvement in the organization’s security posture
• Stay current with emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and industry best practices
• Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or equivalent preferred.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Up to 2 years of experience in IT security, security engineering, infrastructure support, endpoint support, or related technology roles.

Exposure to configuring or supporting security controls in enterprise environments preferred.

Experience assisting with incident response, vulnerability management, security monitoring, or IT operational activities preferred.

Background working with IT infrastructure teams such as network, system

Administration, endpoint support, or service desk support, preferred.

Experience in financial services, banking, or regulated industries preferred but not required

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles, including network security, system hardening, and access control.

Foundational knowledge of security architecture concepts and secure configuration practices.

Familiarity with security event monitoring, log analysis, and incident response fundamentals.

Basic understanding of risk assessment and vulnerability management processes.

Awareness of compliance and regulatory standards related to IT security.

Working knowledge of Windows operating systems and networking fundamentals: Linux familiarity preferred.

Basic knowledge of scripting or automation is beneficial but not required.

SKILLS/ABILITIES: Must have good communication skills, with direct client support experience preferred.
