Puckett Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Central and South Mississippi is hiring a Marine Travel Apprentice Technician. The Marine Travel Apprentice Technician will participate in a structured 10–12-month training and development program designed to build the technical knowledge and hands-on skills required to safely inspect, maintain, diagnose, and repair Caterpillar marine engines, power systems, and related equipment. The Marine Travel Apprentice Technician will receive a combination of on-the-job training, instructor-led training, computer-based learning, and mentorship to develop proficiency in marine systems, troubleshooting techniques, preventive maintenance procedures, and Caterpillar service resources.

At the completion of the apprenticeship program, the Marine Travel Apprentice Technician is expected to understand marine engine fundamentals, electrical system fundamentals, diagnostic and repair procedures, Caterpillar service systems and software, and applicable safety practices. The apprentice will be prepared to safely perform preventive maintenance, basic diagnostics, and repairs while delivering exceptional customer service and upholding Puckett Machinery Company's standards of safety, quality, professionalism, and teamwork.

• Self-starter able to work with limited supervision and meet deadlines.
• Strong mechanical aptitude required.
• Candidate should possess an excellent driving record.
• Proficient in the use of a computer, Microsoft Office products and service software required in position; able to complete service reports and provide pertinent details for work orders.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to write service reports that accurately document diagnosis and repairs performed. Must prepare required documentation including work orders, parts lists, and time cards in an accurate and timely manner.
• Must be able to read and understand operating manuals.
• Must be able to perform in situations requiring speed and deadlines.
• Must be able to operate heavy equipment
• Must be able to work all shifts to meet customer needs

• Must possess or have ability to obtain basic tools

Physical requirements must be met for the apprentice position, including regularly being required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 70 pounds.
