ABOUT THE JOB
Our client is a major international energy trading company operating across North American gas and power markets. They are looking for a senior developer to join their Commodities Trading IT team in Houston. The role sits at the heart of critical gas scheduling operations, supporting nomination, confirmation, and volume reconciliation workflows across the pipeline network.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and enhance internal gas scheduling desktop applications (C# / WPF)
- Develop and optimize database logic via PL/SQL stored procedures on Oracle
- Manage and integrate EDI X12 message flows with external pipelines and counterparties under GISB / NAESB standards
- Collaborate with trading operations and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement of the IT platform
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven experience in C# and WPF desktop application development
- Strong PL/SQL skills on Oracle databases (stored procedures, packages, triggers)
- Hands-on experience with EDI X12 in a GISB / NAESB or Retail Energy context
- Solid analytical skills and ability to work in a fast-paced trading environment
- Agile methodology experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Background in Retail Energy or natural gas markets
- Familiarity with ETRM systems (RightAngle, Endur, or equivalent)
- Experience with Claude Code
