About
QUESTAR III BOCES is seeking a dynamic, innovative, and collaborative Integrated Math Teacher (CTE/Career Studies ) to join our faculty at our Donald Kline Technical High School, located in Hudson, NY. In this role, you won't just teach formulas; you will help students discover the math embedded within their career and technical pathways—from automotive technology and advanced manufacturing to computer science and culinary arts.
The ideal candidate understands that math is a tool for problem-solving in the real world. You will design and deliver a curriculum that integrates standard high school mathematics (Algebra, Geometry, Statistics, and Trigonometry) with the hands-on technical skills our students practice daily in their CTE shops.
Responsibilities:
Integrated Curriculum Design: Develop and implement contextualized, project-based math lessons that align with state standards and directly support various Career and Technical Education (CTE) and Career Studies (CS) programs.
Instructional Delivery: Teach integrated math courses using a variety of student-centered instructional strategies, hands-on activities, and modern educational technology.
Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Partner regularly with CTE/CS shop instructors to align math curriculum with the practical needs of specific trades (e.g., calculating tolerances in machining, scale drawing in construction, or algorithms in coding).
Differentiated Instruction: Support a diverse student population by adapting teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles, academic levels, and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Assessment & Data Analysis: Utilize formative and summative assessments to measure student growth, guide instruction, and prepare students for state-mandated testing and industry certifications.
Classroom Culture: Maintain a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment that emphasizes critical thinking, problem-solving, and professional workplace behavior.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Secondary Mathematics Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
Certification: Valid State Teaching Certification in Secondary Mathematics (Grades 9-12).
Experience: * Minimum of 2-3 years of high school math teaching experience preferred.
Experience with or a strong interest in Career and Technical Education (CTE)/Career Studies (CS) or STEM initiatives is highly desirable.
Proven experience implementing project-based learning (PBL).
Skills:
Deep understanding of core mathematical concepts and the ability to translate them into practical, real-world applications.
Excellent collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency with educational technology (e.g., graphing software, learning management systems, interactive displays).
What We Offer:
Competitive salary commensurate with experience and educational background.
Comprehensive benefits package (medical, dental, vision, and retirement/pension plan).
Dedicated collaborative planning time with both math department peers and CTE/CS instructors.
