Provide guidance and support to a cohort team of teachers and 9th grade students.
Formal Education: High School diploma. Candidates with college credit in education and counseling preferred.
Experience: Experience working with adolescents in a support or supervisory capacity.

ï‚· Knowledge of issues impacting teenagers and school performance.
ï‚· Applicants need to have the ability to communicate with students, parents, and educators.
ï‚· Must be organized, punctual, and use sound judgment.
ï‚· Ability to work with a diverse student population including variety of ages, cognitive abilities.
ï‚· Ability to deal with sensitive issues as they relate to different minority groups and socio-economic levels.
ï‚· Ability to assist in working with students on different multicultural issues as they relate to the understanding of the various cultural groups.
ï‚· Ability to empathize with students of different minority and socioeconomic backgrounds.
ï‚· Ability to deal with and monitor student behavior.
ï‚· Ability to maintain student confidentiality.
ï‚· Perform a variety of duties.
ï‚· Ability to take direction, learn quickly and work closely with the teacher and other team members.
ï‚· Experience working cross-culturally and/or commitment to work toward improving one’s own cultural competence, i.e. valuing difference/diversity, recognizing personal limitations in one’s skills and expertise, and having the desire to learn in these areas.
ï‚· Experience working with school age children.
ï‚· Prior experience working in a public school setting.
ï‚· Experience using e-mail, internet, and word processing programs.
ï‚· Familiarity with office equipment and personal computers.
ï‚· Fluency in Spanish. Candidates who are fluent in Spanish will be given greater consideration.
Essential Functions:
ï‚· Will act as a liaison between cohort teachers and office teams.
ï‚· Will assist in making parent contacts about grades and attendance.
ï‚· Will help students develop goals and plans.
ï‚· Will support school-wide issues like PBIS, academic support classes, and discipline initiatives. All other
duties as assigned.
Work Environment: Advocate will work in sub school or cohort office as assigned by the principal.
Busy office environment with multiple priorities and frequent interruptions.
