Position Summary
We are seeking a highly proactive Maintenance Professional with strong experience in blow molding and injection molding operations to ensure the reliability, performance, and longevity of our manufacturing equipment and facility. This role is focused on preventing downtime before it happens through disciplined preventive and predictive maintenance practices, rigorous root cause analysis, and continuous improvement of molding assets and auxiliary systems.
The ideal candidate deeply understands the criticality of molding equipment—extruders, injection units, molds, hot runners, hydraulics, pneumatics, robotics, and downstream automation—and actively works to eliminate chronic issues, extend tooling life, and stabilize processes. Rather than reacting to failures, this individual anticipates wear patterns, monitors trends, and implements permanent solutions that improve uptime, quality, and safety.
This role partners closely with operations, engineering, and quality to embed reliability into daily production, ensuring molding machines are capable, repeatable, and production‑ready at all times. Success is measured by reduced unplanned downtime, improved OEE, longer mold life, and a maintenance culture that prioritizes planning over firefighting.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee all production maintenance, facilities, and equipment setup activities, including PMs, PdMs, work orders, safety inspections, and area projects.
- Supervise, coach, and develop maintenance technicians, including performance management, training, and skill development.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for technical troubleshooting, coaching, and day‑to‑day maintenance guidance.
- Plan and assign work schedules, matching technician skill sets to operational needs.
- Develop, maintain, and analyze detailed maintenance records and reliability data.
- Build, improve, and sustain preventive, proactive, and predictive maintenance programs.
- Manage plant maintenance costs, process reliability, and on‑site subcontractors.
- Develop and standardize mold and head maintenance processes.
- Apply Lean, SMED, and continuous improvement methodologies to reduce downtime and improve performance.
- Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, automation, HVAC, and water processing systems.
- Lead equipment installations, rebuilds, facility modifications, and auxiliary equipment projects.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with manufacturing, operations, quality, engineering, vendors, and contractors.
- Review and evaluate engineering and improvement proposals to ensure operational and financial benefit.
- Authorize maintenance parts and service purchases in alignment with budget requirements.
- Prepare weekly maintenance and performance reports.
- Ensure compliance with GMP, food safety, quality standards, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations (EPA, DNR, etc.).
- Promote a strong safety culture by following and reinforcing all safety policies and procedures.
