We are seeking Optometric Technicians to support our multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Optometric Technician Responsibilities
(Under the supervision of a licensed optometrist.)
- Prepare exam rooms and ensure all diagnostic equipment is clean, calibrated, and stocked.
- Obtain and document patient histories, visual‑acuity results, and pre‑testing data in the EMR.
- Perform routine pre‑tests (autorefraction, keratometry, tonometry, slit‑lamp imaging, visual fields).
- Assist the optometrist during examinations—position patients, handle lenses, and operate imaging devices.
- Educate patients on eyewear care, contact‑lens use, and medication instructions.
- Process and transmit prescriptions to pharmacies or optical dispensaries.
- Manage inventory of lenses, frames, contacts, medications, and disposables.
- Respond to patient calls, schedule follow‑ups, and address basic inquiries.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and all legal/ethical standards.

What You Bring to Refuah:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in a related field (e.g., Optometric Assisting) preferred
- Previous clinical experience in an eye‑care or outpatient setting preferred
- Current Optometric Technician/Optometric Assistant certification preferred, but not required
- Ability to project a pleasant and professional image
- Ability to plan, prioritize and complete delegated tasks
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team
- Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with patients and other employees
- Ability to read, write, understand and speak English in a clear and concise manner
- Physical stamina and manual dexterity to perform a variety of tasks and skills in the area of assignment
- Ability to maintain quality, safety and infection‑control standards
