CUNY School of Law invites applications for the position of Program and Development Manager of the Institute on Gender, Law, and Transformative Peace. The Institute serves as a hub for cross-sectoral, cross-movement, and transnational organizing, research, and scholarship. It works to advance the cutting edge of rights-based approaches to national and international law and policy, including peace and transitional justice processes, reconstruction, and human rights mechanisms. The Institute partners with local organizers and communities to strengthen movement-building initiatives from around the world.
The Institute seeks a dynamic Program and Development Manager to support day-to-day program operations, proposal writing, communications, and related program outreach. Reporting to the Managing Director at the Institute, the Program and Development Manager will be responsible for managing essential aspects of program operations, outreach, and tracking of program information. This includes program operations, outreach, and assisting in the smooth running of all events, programs, and outreach. This position will also assist in contributing to the communications portfolio, including internal and external communications, blog posts, news articles, including editing documents and publications, among other tasks as needed. Due to periodic deadlines and special events, some nights and weekend hours are occasionally required for this position.
Responsibilities:
Program Operations and Outreach
- Organizes and prepares for meetings, including gathering documents, researching venues and other event needs, and attending to meeting logistics (food ordering, note taking, etc).
- Assists in the drafting of concept notes and landscape analysis materials to inform convenings and program areas.
- Coordinates and supports materials production for program events.
- Liaises with various internal and external partners to ensure smooth execution, publicity, and coordination of hosted events.
- Manages domestic and international travel arrangements and external vendor relationships.
- Ensures effective management of event planning to ensure program participants are well served. Takes notes and helps document meetings and events.
Development and Grant Management
- Compile information for periodic programmatic reports to funders.
- Track grant outputs and deliverables and update the internal grant tracking system.
- Review and assist with grant proposals.
- Draft and design grant reports.
- Compile information for periodic programmatic reports to funders.
- Update and maintain files of past grants, future reports, and deliverables calendar Maintain paper and electronic filing systems on Dropbox to ensure accessibility, accuracy, security, and completeness of IGLTP materials.
Financial Accounting
- Reconcile credit card receipts (upload, itemize, create business request payment).
- Create and review all payment and reimbursement request forms.
- Tracking contracts, reimbursements, and payment requests, and troubleshooting emerging issues to ensure timely resolution. Update all relevant account reports, following when payments have been made, and what are still outstanding to show current balances.
Communications and Outreach
- Assist with media and communications correspondence and logistics.
- Draft material, including community workshop agendas, policy reports, international human rights analysis, advocacy materials, press releases on advocacy efforts, and advocacy letters.
- Collaborate and work directly with external partner organizations, University programs, funders, government officials, and community stakeholders.
- Conduct desk research for Institute-related materials.
- Assist to help draft blogs, news articles, and workshop reports, working with the communications team for publications.
- Draft, edit, and catalog the Institute's annual reports. Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Excellent research, editing, and writing capabilities;
- Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines;
- Flexibility and willingness to contribute to a range of projects
- Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment;
- Enthusiasm for working with teams and on a variety of tasks; works well independently and with supervision.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint;
- Ability to communicate fluently and professionally and with a range of stakeholders; Ability to work with confidential information and has a high level of discernment.
- Master's degree, or equivalent work experience in a relevant field; Minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience.
This is a hybrid position. Due to periodic deadlines and special events, occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required. This is a one-year position (with the possibility of renewal) with an annual salary range of $80,000- $85,000 with health insurance and benefits.
