Instructor, Cancer Data Management - North Campus
Responsibilities:
Teaching
- Keeps up with developments in the field of study.
- Demonstrates high standards-academic and professional.
- Evaluates student work constructively and provides timely feedback.
- Teaches at times and locations that meet student needs.
- Provides access to students through posted conference hours, electronic communications, and other appropriate methods and responds to inquiries in a timely manner.
- Reviews, evaluates, and recommends student learning materials.
- Develops and uses a syllabus and course information materials for each course, laboratory, or clinical setting within state, college, and departmental guideline.
- Responsibilities include assisting in program coordination and teaching courses using distance learning in cancer data management-related subject areas. Courses taught may also include medical terminology, pathophysiology/pharmacology, anatomy & physiology and healthcare delivery systems.
Professional Development
- Maintains high standards of competence in the discipline(s) and teaching methodologies through professional development activities.
- Plans, develops, and uses effective teaching methods and materials which assist students in meeting course objectives, are appropriate for students with different educational and experiential backgrounds and learning styles, and engage the students in learning. Reviews, evaluates, reflects, and revises program curricula and teaching methods through a self-evaluation process of self-reflection.
- Meets or exceeds professional standards, state-mandated guidelines, requirements of business/industry, and higher education, as appropriate to the discipline(s).
Service
- Participates in college meetings and/or committees, task forces, and councils.
- Participates in college-related activities such as registration, community education, recruitment of students, student retention, and faculty selection.
- Participates in college activities for students and student organizations to aid in retention.
- Participates in business and community activities that foster goodwill and promote the mission and values of the college.
- Participates in activities required to maintain program and college accreditation standards. Participates in setting departmental goals, in developing college budgets that support the goals, and in planning for achieving those goals.
- Promotes and maintains departmental affiliation agreements and other partnerships with other institutions.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge skills and abilities in the teaching area of Cancer Data Management.
- Teaching experience, particularly online using a learning management system.
- Knowledge of and experience with technology-based instruction, including web-based instructional design using voice and video files.
- Experience in developing and teaching web-based courses.
- Ability to effectively teach broad areas of cancer data management and related technologies to students from all cultural, ethnic, socioeconomic, academic, and disability backgrounds.
- Knowledge of instructional strategies for promoting student learning.
- Knowledge of and experience in using Student Learning Outcomes to promote student success.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Effective interpersonal skills with a desire and ability to work with a variety of different people.
- Effective computer skills.
Education and Experience:
Minimum Qualifications: The candidate must meet one of these criteria:
- The minimum qualifications for disciplines on this list are any bachelor’s degree and two years of experience in the cancer registry field; OR
- Any associate degree and three years of experience in the cancer registry field; OR
- Combination of education and other accomplishments that are equivalent to the above. (If claiming equivalency, attach a separate statement that presents the basis for this claim and submit supporting evidence, e.g., transcripts, publications, and other work products.)
Licenses/Certifications:
- Oncology Data Specialist - ODS certification.
NOTE: This position requires a regular, in-person, on-campus presence. Fully remote or work-from home arrangements are not available for this role.
