• Verify insurance eligibility and benefits for scheduled surgical procedures, including determining preauthorization, referral, and medical necessity requirements.
• Obtain and documentinsurance verificationand authorization information accurately.
• Communicate patientfinancial responsibility, including deductibles, coinsurance, copayments, and out-of-pocket estimates.
• Collaborate with surgery schedulers and clinical staff to resolve insurance-related issues before the date of service.
• Maintainaccuratedocumentation within the electronic health record and practice management systems.
• Assistin minimizing claim denials by ensuring complete andaccurateinsurance information prior to service.
• Protect patient confidentiality andcomply withHIPAA and all applicable payer regulations.
• Provide exceptional customer service while addressing patient questionsregardinginsurance coverage andfinancial responsibility.

• Understanding of Internal Classification of Diseases (ICD) and Common Procedural Terminology (CPT) coding
• Proficient knowledge of medical terminology
• Strong customer service skills

• Patient Accounting System (HST preferred)
• Highly detailed andaccurate, with excellent organizational skills
• Critical thinking andproblem-solvingskills
• Excellent skills in Microsoft Office (primarily Word, Excel, and TEAMS).
• Must be computer literate with the ability to learn new software applications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in healthcare, medical office, insurance verification, patient access, scheduling, or revenue cycle functions, including working knowledge of commercial insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, and workers' compensation benefits and eligibility.

• Basic understanding of medical terminology.
