We have an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Purchasing Manager at our Guymon facility. This senior leadership role oversees the purchasing and receiving functions supporting one of the largest pork processing operations in the country. The Sr. Purchasing Manager will lead a team responsible for securing materials and ingredients, ensuring compliance with company policies, and leveraging corporate contracts while driving efficiency across purchasing, receiving, materials scheduling, supply, warehouse, and maintenance inventory systems. Areas of oversight include packaging, food ingredients, parts room, PPE, sanitation, and office supplies. As a strategic partner to Operations, the Sr. Purchasing Manager is accountable for optimizing cost, quality, and service while developing a high-performing team. This position plays a critical role in advancing Seaboard Foods' culture of safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Lead, coach, and develop the plant purchasing and receiving team to ensure high performance, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the timely preparation, processing, and approval of requisitions and purchase orders to support uninterrupted operations.
- Manage plant-level inventory through effective min/max levels, reorder points, and obsolete material processes to minimize shortages and waste.
- Partner with Operations, Food Safety, and Quality Assurance to ensure purchased goods meet specifications, compliance standards, and delivery requirements.
- Maintain strong vendor relationships while driving supplier performance, competitive pricing, and risk reduction strategies.
- Ensure accurate and efficient procure-to-pay processes by collaborating with Accounting and Corporate teams on invoice reconciliation and payment.
- Provide reporting and analysis of key purchasing metrics to management, identifying opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
- Develop and manage plant purchasing budgets, forecasts, and capital plans aligned with divisional and corporate strategies.
- Implement and sustain inventory management systems and processes that safeguard accuracy and comply with regulatory and food safety requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives leveraging lean and best practices to optimize purchasing, receiving, and supply chain effectiveness.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 8+ years of progressively responsible purchasing, inventory, or supply chain management experience, including at least 3–5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to interpret data and apply insights.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access) with the ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate information to cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Preferred:
- Experience with JD Edwards (JDE), SAP, or other enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Prior leadership experience managing purchasing, inventory, or supply chain teams in a manufacturing or processing environment.
- Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.

- The noise levels vary depending on the environment and may require hearing protection in certain areas.
- The hours and days of work are established by departmental needs and at the discretion of management. After-hours, weekends, and overnight travel as requested.
