SEACORP is seeking a well-qualified Software Engineer - Data Analytics Team.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Job Summary: SEACORP is seeking Software Engineers at all experience levels, including new and recent college graduates, to build mission-critical software for the U.S. Navy. Your code will go to sea. As a Software Engineer at SEACORP, you will help design, build, and test the software and data systems behind the Submarine Warfare Federated Tactical Systems (SWFTS) program: the integrated combat system used across the U.S. Navy submarine fleet. You will join a multidisciplinary team of SEACORP and government engineers who develop the services that move, store, and deliver data for some of the most advanced platforms in the world.
Job Responsibilities:
- Design, code, test, integrate, and document software solutions in languages such as Java, Python, and C++.
- Develop databases, middleware, APIs, and prototypes in support of Navy data systems.
- Work on problems with defined scope, schedule, and expectations.
- Participate in an Agile team, consisting of daily scrums, two-week sprints, quarterly program increments, demonstrations, and retrospectives.
- Use professional engineering tools, including Git, Linux, and the Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence, etc).
- Learn modern data, cloud, and AI-assisted development technologies on the job, with guidance from the team that runs them.
Qualifications:
Education:
Software Engineer I, II, III - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field. Graduating seniors and recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
Software Engineer IV - Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
Experience:
Software Engineer I - 0 years of experience required
Software Engineer II - 3 years of experience required
Software Engineer III & IV - 10 years of experience required.
Required Experience:

Ability to program in at least one general-purpose language such as Java, Python, or C++

Ability to learn new technologies quickly, and a genuine interest in doing so.

Able to collaborate with others while handling independent tasking.

Clear written and verbal communication.

Exposure to SQL or NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL or MongoDB.

Coursework or project experience with REST APIs, containers (Docker, Kubernetes), or data frameworks (Kafka, Spark).
- Willingness to learn and experiment with new technologies and platforms.
Desired Experience:

Familiarity with Git, Linux, or Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence).

Internship, co-op, capstone, research, or open-source experience.
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as VS Code AI extensions, Cursor, or Claude Code.
Exceptional Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience in any of the following will make a candidate stand out, though none are required: distributed data platforms (Kafka, Spark, Iceberg, Trino), object storage (S3, Ceph), Kubernetes and cloud-native infrastructure, or integrating AI/ML capabilities into applications.

Work Environment & Physical Demands: Office & Computer Laboratories - Sitting, standing, extended periods of time using a mouse and keyboard and viewing computer screens. Infrequent lifting of <40lbs. Movement between points within the same office or between buildings. Work is performed in generally consistent environmental conditions with some seasonality for temperature differences and lighting.
