Program Manager

Directly/Indirectly Supervises: Job Coach/Developers
Performs evaluation work testing mentally and/or physically disabled clients, and making training recommendations based on findings. Performs coordinative work in the placement and monitoring of CRP clients in personal development, production, and training activities. Duties include interviewing clients, reviewing pre-admission data, administering general and specific tests, observing clients in workshop situations, and developing a written evaluation summary for use by other staff members in rehabilitation and work situations. Based on evaluation result, he/she will recommend appropriate program placement for individual client needs. He/she will organize, plan, and implement employee development services for disabled clients. Program services are geared to provide clients personal enrichments, community and personal living skills, and good work habits based on mutually developed goals. The overall program goal is to eventually move clients into gainful employment by improving their interpersonal skills, job seeking and retention skills. Activities of the coordinator will be to observe clients’ conduct and performances, prepare individual goals and plans, counsel clients, and rotate clients within work activities to match goals with resources. Work is performed under the general direction of the Executive Director and is reviewed through oral conferences, written reports, and evaluation of success in helping clients attain goals.
- administer, score and interpret a variety of standard aptitude, intelligence, and achievement tests designed to delineate factors such as social maturity, general emotional status, education level attained, vocational interests, and vocational abilities
- assess the basic skills and vocational potential by observing situational work tasks and job try-out evaluations
- review psychological and medical records to determine client’s needs upon entry to the evaluation program
- assign clients to selected work areas, either simulated or real, and training situations; evaluates work habits exhibited, eye-hand coordination and dexterity in use of tools or materials, interests and learning abilities, and other related factors
- assimilate information gained from test and work samples, drafts, evaluative summary of findings, and recommendations for follow-up
- informs counselors, psychologists, social workers, and other of findings in staff conferences
- observes clients in individual and group situations; utilizes existing evaluations and makes own assessments concerning specific needs; writes goals and strategies for client attainment-
- applying CARF standards to related area of work
- discusses client needs and progress with other staff in daily contact and at weekly and monthly staff meetings; exchanges information concerning participants in various vocational programs
- writes client progress notes; oversees the maintenance of assigned client files; relates client needs and progress to parents or guardians (if necessary) and to other agencies
- instructs clients in areas such as personal and social adjustment, work habits, personal hygiene, basic education, and pre-vocational skills
- works with area employers to encourage the hiring and placement of clients; researches job availability and requirements; discusses financial incentives with potential employers
- supervises clients in work areas when necessary
- performs and writes evaluations for SourceAmerica/AbilityOne employees
- performs and writes evaluations for DSS—Functional Evaluation

-ability to synthesize data and observation reports and make recommendations essential to the rehabilitation process
-ability to express findings and recommendations in staff conferences
-general knowledge of community employment resources and opportunities
-ability to assess client needs, develop individualized goals and plans to meet needs, and maintain reports documenting process and recommendations
-ability to coordinate the work of other employees and to oversee client activities
-CPR/First Aid certified/NVCI training
-knowledge and implementation of safety policies
-knowledge of behavior and characteristics of disabled persons
-knowledge of business management policies and procedures
-knowledge of all policies
-ability to implement policies
-ability to plan and organize
- ability to make minor repairs
-knowledge and understanding of CRP’s stated mission
-knowledge of CARF criteria
-ability to balance, crouch, bend, stoop, crawl, walk, kneel, twist, stand & sit hear, near/far vision; tolerant of environmental conditions (wetness, dust, noise, hot/cold, etc.)
-ability to perform work duties 8 hrs. a day; five days a week
-ability to drive
-current, valid driver’s license
-dependable transportation
-clear driver’s record for at least 3 yrs from date of any conviction
-ability to understand written & oral communication
-ability to communicate and instruct effectively
-ability to establish rapport and communicate effectively with people
Masters degree in rehabilitation counseling with related coursework in evaluating or graduation from a four-year college or university with a major in one of the following: rehabilitation, vocational evaluation, psychology, or related curriculum including at least 18 semester hours in courses relating to vocational evaluation.

Pay: $40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
