Position Overview
The Chief Technology & Business Officer (CTBO) is the executive leader responsible for the strategy, growth, and operational performance of the Slater Certified® SaaS-based Educational Technology platform. This role combines executive business leadership, with deep expertise in building, scaling, and operating enterprise SaaS products serving education, workforce development, and learning ecosystems.
The CTBO owns the platform's business performance—from product strategy and technology execution to customer outcomes, operational excellence, and innovation. Working closely with Slater Infrastructure’s Executive Leadership Team, the CTBO ensures the platform continues to deliver exceptional value to workforce boards, educational institutions, employers, government agencies, and learners while supporting long-term growth and profitability.
With an entrepreneurial mindset, the CTBO will operate in a General Manager-style role that will be responsible for setting the vision, driving market execution, and ensuring the organization delivers sustainable business results. This executive will help build and lead the new division including Engineering, Product Delivery, DevOps, Data & AI, Quality Assurance, Security, and Platform Operations, through a team of senior functional leaders. This CTBO will be a pioneer who cultivates a collaborative work environment that enables excellence and growth for this innovative and entrepreneurial EdTech platform. The CTBO reports to the Executive Committee of Slater Infrastructure, based out of Alpharetta, GA and is a hybrid role with offices in Jackson, MS.
Key Responsibilities
Business & Platform Leadership
Own the strategic direction, operational performance, and long-term success of the platform.
Develop and execute a platform strategy that aligns technology, product innovation, customer outcomes, and commercial growth.
Drive platform profitability through investment prioritization, strategic partnerships, pricing-enabling capabilities, and build-versus-buy decisions.
Establish operating metrics and KPIs that measure platform health, customer success, operational performance, and business growth.
Represent the platform with enterprise customers, workforce organizations, government agencies, strategic partners, and industry stakeholders.
Product & Technology Strategy
Define and execute the technology and product roadmap supporting rapid growth across workforce boards, educational institutions, training providers, employers, and government-funded programs.
Ensure the platform delivers scalable capabilities for competency-based learning, skills mapping, credentialing, learner engagement, workforce case management, and job matching.
Lead continuous innovation through AI-enabled learning experiences, adaptive learning, predictive analytics, and workforce intelligence.
Ensure seamless integration with Learning Management Systems (LMS), Learning Record Stores (LRS), HRIS/ATS platforms, labor market data providers, and workforce systems.
Champion agile product development practices that accelerate innovation while maintaining product quality and customer satisfaction.
Engineering & Platform Operations
Build and lead high-performing Engineering, DevOps, Data Engineering, QA, Security, and Platform Operations organizations.
Establish engineering standards, architecture governance, and software development best practices that support scalability and maintainability.
Oversee cloud infrastructure, platform reliability, security, and cost-effective scaling.
Drive DevOps maturity through CI/CD automation, observability, monitoring, and operational excellence.
Ensure exceptional platform availability, performance, technical support, and business continuity.
Data, AI & Governance
Define the enterprise data strategy supporting customer insights, learner outcomes, workforce reporting, and business intelligence.
Lead the responsible implementation of proprietary AI capabilities throughout the platform.
Establish governance for data quality, privacy, cybersecurity, identity management, and regulatory compliance.
Ensure compliance with FERPA, SOC 2, GDPR, WIOA reporting standards, and other applicable federal, state, and customer requirements.
Promote ethical and responsible use of AI across learning, assessment, workforce matching, and decision support.
Enterprise Leadership
Cross-functional partnering with the Slater Infrastructure team, Product, Customer Success, Workforce Partnerships, Sales, Marketing, and Operations to achieve business objectives.
Align organizational priorities and resources to maximize execution and customer value.
Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Mentor senior leaders while building organizational capability for future growth.
Qualifications
Executive Leadership
Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred.
15+ years of progressive executive leadership experience within technology-driven organizations.
Demonstrated success leading and scaling a SaaS business, platform, or business unit with accountability for product strategy, technology delivery, operating performance, and commercial outcomes.
Proven experience leading large cross-functional organizations through senior functional leaders.
Proven track record of driving growth, operational rigor, and customer outcomes in complex, multi-stakeholder environments
Prior experience as a General Manager, Technology Lead or other senior-level role with P&L responsibility and cross-functional senior leadership team (SLT) experience

Candidates should possess significant executive leadership experience building, scaling, and operating enterprise SaaS products within one or more of the following sectors:

Deep understanding of SaaS architecture, cloud platforms, product development, subscription business models, and software operations.
Strong commercial acumen with experience managing operating plans, budgets, investment priorities, and platform performance metrics.
Experience evaluating strategic partnerships, acquisitions, technology investments, and build-versus-buy decisions.
Knowledge of cybersecurity, AI governance, enterprise data strategy, and compliance within regulated environments.
Ability to translate business strategy into scalable technology execution without requiring day-to-day hands-on software development.

Competitive Compensation: $150,000 - $225,000 base salary based on experience, Bonus: Eligible
