The Manufacturing Systems Engineer I supports both daily manufacturing operations and the technical ownership of capital machinery and manufacturing systems throughout the facility. This role combines production support engineering with hands-on machinery troubleshooting, process improvement, equipment integration, and manufacturing capability development. This engineer works closely with Production, Quality, Engineering, and Operations teams to support manufacturing efficiency, equipment reliability, and operational scalability. The role is intended for highly hands-on engineers or technical individuals who enjoy troubleshooting real-world manufacturing problems, working directly with equipment and operators, and improving how products are built.
Key Responsibilities
- Support daily production and manufacturing operations
- Troubleshoot manufacturing and assembly issues on the production floor
- Support root cause investigations related to quality, process, and equipment issues
- Train technicians and operators on machinery
- Create and maintain manufacturing work instructions and process documentation
- Serve as technical owner for assigned manufacturing equipment and systems
- Support preventative maintenance and equipment reliability initiatives
- Assist with fixture, tooling, and process improvement projects
- Evaluate opportunities for automation and manufacturing capability improvements
- Support implementation and commissioning of new machinery and equipment
- Work directly with operators, technicians, vendors, and contractors
- Support factory layout and workflow optimization efforts
- Participate in continuous improvement and waste reduction initiatives
- May perform other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field; OR equivalent hands-on technical experience
- 0–3 years of manufacturing, maintenance, automation, or machinery experience
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting mindset
- Ability to safely work on and around industrial equipment
- Basic understanding of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems
- Ability to read technical drawings, manuals, and schematics
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
- Willingness to spend significant time on the production floor
- Hands-on experience with fabrication or manufacturing equipment
- Experience repairing or modifying machinery
- Basic PLC or controls familiarity
- Experience with CAD software
- Experience with CNC equipment, welding systems, automation systems, or industrial machinery
- Technical hobby or project experience involving mechanical or electrical systems
- Primarily office-based with regular interaction within manufacturing and production environments.
- Ability to stand and walk within manufacturing environments as needed.
- Ability to occasionally lift or move materials up to 25 pounds.
