Responsible for the development, implementation, promotion, evaluation, and continuous improvement of continuing education open to the public and some contract training for courses throughout southeast Nebraska. Attend Workforce Leadership Teams as assigned, and also represent the division at community and SCC credit program meetings. Assesses program and course needs through collaboration with college divisions, educational institutions, local businesses, community and professional organizations, and governmental agencies. Maintains all pertinent records for courses. Responsible for the development of program goals and objectives.
Supervision
Leads, supervises, evaluates, and hires staff, faculty, and speakers as required for the operation of the program. Establishes salaries and initiates payroll. Ensures completion of required personnel records.
Manage Program Budgets
Prepares, justifies, and controls the program budget with oversight of cost centers. Maintains program records and metrics to support financial activities. Provides year-end reports and budget information as needed.
Market Program Activities
Coordinates and cooperates with the College’s Public Information, Continuing Education Division, and Career & Technical Division Program Directors and administrators to develop promotional materials, including brochures, flyers, a schedule of classes, web pages, social media announcements, and any special promotional materials.
Participate in the Division Management Team
Participates with the Senior Director, Continuing Education Directors, and Dean of Continuing Education to develop division goals and objectives, plan in-service programs for the division, evaluate and formulate division operating procedures and policies, and assess the overall performance of the division. Supervise division operations during assigned evening and weekend hours. Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with all divisions and programs.
Professional Growth
Participates in professional conferences and meetings, relevant local, state, or national educational activities, and maintains relationships with professional counterparts and other institutions. Serve as an educational adviser for individuals and training and development personnel for community and business organizations, as requested.

Promote a Culture of Belonging
- Maintain inventory of program equipment.
- Identify the availability of grants and similar sources of outside funding and assist with the collection of data for the Office of Resource Development.
- Collaborate with assigned programs and Workforce Leadership Teams to promote and identify new Continuing Education course opportunities.
- Participate in assigned college activities such as Career Fairs.
- Collect and account for monies received by the division as required.
- Appear at meetings and lunches or on television, radio, etc., as requested to promote Continuing Education opportunities.
- Perform other related duties within the division/program as assigned.
- May be required to perform associated duties, functions, or assignments in other divisions/programs/areas as required.
- Perform other College functions and duties as assigned.
- Must be able to work varied days, hours, shifts, locations, and campuses as required. Work schedules (hours/days/work location) are scheduled by Southeast Community College based on the needs of the College. Work hours, shifts, days, and work locations may vary depending on the needs of Southeast Community College and are subject to modification. Emergency or scheduled special activities may require hours outside of the regular workweek.
- Knowledge and experience in recruiting, screening, interviewing, hiring, supervising, and evaluating staff.
- Ability to manage and monitor a budget using sound fiscal practices.
- Ability to collaborate with trainers, presenters, and faculty in the development of course descriptions and curriculum.
- Ability to plan, develop, coordinate, and schedule multiple training projects.
- Ability to initiate, organize, and direct a group in activities such as budget preparation, needs assessment, new class development, planning committees, budget preparation, and other assigned activities.
- Detail-oriented and organized with excellent follow-through.
- Ability to prioritize competing tasks and deadlines and oversee complex projects or events.
- Self-starter and team player.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing, in person, and on the phone.
- Proficient in software applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel), with the ability to use basic computer skills.
- Ability to lift and carry up to (50) fifty pounds for short distances, and move tables, chairs, and media equipment.
- The individual must possess the above skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field.
- Two (2) years of relevant full-time experience.
- Associate’s Degree plus four years of relevant full-time experience and two (2) years of experience in supervision or management.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field.
- Work experience in the collaboration and coordination of and delivery of continuing education requirements for professionals in the workplace needing to develop or enhance their skills.
- Administrative level work experience in adult education, continuing education, training and development, or educational quality improvement or oversight.
- Experience in project management.
- Marketing, promotion, education/outreach, and/or sales work experience.
