• High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution
• Completion of Certified Nursing Assistant program
• Certified in Phlebotomy

Responsibility Highlights

• Take vital signs such as temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, etc. Report any abnormal findings to the Charge Nurse. Record the findings in the Patient Care Record.
• Perform basic care as instructed by the Registered Nurse. Such duties include: weigh and measure patient; give enemas; apply vaginal pads; test urine for sugar and acetones; provide Foley catheter care; assist with postmortem care; and other basic nursing procedures as assigned.
• Document on the Intake/Output sheet all intake and output for the shift including gomco suction, hemovac, and Foley output.
• Perform routine and stat venipuncture (age specific).
• Collect and assist with the collection of urine, sputum, and stool. Label all specimens for the laboratory and clock-in the time on the lab slip and place them in the appropriate area. Deliver samples within 15 minutes if stat venipuncture.
• 6. Perform EKGs by placing leads on the patient in the proper manner; operating the EKG equipment in a safe manner; and clean the equipment when the assignment is complete.
• Consistently apply and adhere to isolation procedures and techniques.
• Bath, dress and assist patients in oral hygiene, along with providing proper hygiene and skin care.
• Provide clean linen, when appropriate. Make unoccupied, occupied, and post-anesthetic beds.
• Collect and bag soiled linen and discard appropriately.
