Responsible for decontamination, cleaning, processing and sterilization of supplies and equipment dispensed by the areas following Infection Control practices. Dispense products requested by verbal, written or telephone requisitions for equipment and supplies. Identify and assign priority to emergency requisitions. Takes charge of CentralService/Linen/Equipment Control on occasion.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
High school diploma or equivalent. Certified Central Service Technician Course helpful.
- has successfully passed a nationally accredited central service exam for central service technicians; and holds and maintains one of the following credentials administered by a nationally accredited central service technician credentialing organization: certified registered central service technician credential; certified sterile processing and distribution technician credential; or a substantially equivalent credential.
- provides evidence that the person was employed or otherwise contracted for the services of central service technician in a healthcare facility for a cumulative period of one year, occurring within the four years immediately prior to January 1, 2015; or
- a central service technician who does not meet the requirements shall have18 months from the date of hire to obtain the certified registered central service technician credential or the certified sterile processing and distribution technician credential.
SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Manual dexterity. Must be extremely conscientious with regard to procedures. Ability to communicate effectively.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS:
Must be able to work in a confined area at times. Intermittent or frequent exposure to one or more mildly unpleasant physical conditions. Many tasks are detailed, repetitious and slow. Must meet deadlines. Must interrupt work to priority perform tasks. Hazards of working with detergents. Must accept pressure assignments. Belongs to Exposure Class I which involves routine or potential exposure to blood, body fluids, excretions or secretions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Medium work: must be able to lift, bend, stoop, push and pull. Stands or walks most of the shift. Appreciable effort or strain with frequent lifting. Some handling and pushing of equipment and carts required.
Pay Range: $22.25 - $36.90
Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
