Position Title: Associate Director, Career Development & Coaching, Pre-Health.
Department: Piper Center for Vocation & Career.
Classification: Exempt.
FTE: 0.92.
Work Schedule: September -May, 40 hours per week, hours to be worked between Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; June – August, 354 hours to be worked, must be approved by supervisor, flexible schedule, hours to be worked between Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.; with occasional evening and weekend hours; travel up to 5% of work schedule, which includes local (Twin Cities metro area) and national travel; overnight trips average 1-2 trips per year.
Work Location: Hybrid. On campus 4 days, WFH 1. Will work on campus fully for the first three months.
Salary Range: $52,717 - $59,355.
Essential Job Duties:
- Coaching.
- Provide one-on-one coaching to students interested in health-related, health-adjacent and medical careers including resume and cover letter reviews, essay and personal statement reviews, interview prep, searching for and identifying opportunities, and applications to internship and job opportunities.
- Guide students through the graduate/health professional application process, assist with essays and personal statements, and help prepare students for interviews.
- Offer drop-in coaching hours at least once a week.
- Serve as staff advisor to student-led interest groups: Pre-Health Professionals Club, Pre-Dental Club, Pre-PA Club, and the Minority Association of Pre-Health Students (MAPS). Support the student Pre-health Mentor program.
- Internship Management.
- Manage a range of cohort internship and rotational shadowing programs designed to give students access to opportunities in healthcare, promote opportunities to students, and coordinate the selection process in collaboration with faculty.
- Research, develop, and promote new opportunities, and work with major donors and alumni to cultivate experiential opportunities in the health arena.
- Event Management.
- Design and implement workshops, host information sessions, employer site visits, and alumni panels to introduce students to a wide range of health/medical careers.
- Facilitate student-alumni career exploration and networking events for students considering careers in healthcare.
- Other.
- Serve as liaison to the Health Professions Committee (HPC), meet regularly with the HPC Chair and provide guidance to the HPC during the interview process.
- Track and report annually on student matriculation into graduate/professional schools in the health professions.
- Maintain pre-health websites, pre-health Moodle site, and relevant online resources.
- Manage, train, mentor and support student Pre-Health Peer Advisors.
- Maintain membership with the National Association of Advisors for the Health Professions and participate in regional associations, national conferences, and professional development.
- Support, respect, and commit to embracing diverse backgrounds, values, and points of view to build a strong and inclusive community.
- Complete and meet deadlines for required training and performance management cycle.
Perform other duties as assigned. -

- Reports to the Associate Director of Alumni Career Services. This position supervises student workers.

5+ years of experience coaching clients or customers in healthcare, higher education, pre-professional advising, or career development; experience working with undergraduate students; familiarity with career development/counseling theories and methods; specialized knowledge of the health/medical/law fields.
