Essential Functions
- Assesses case filings to determine placement in case track/program or recommends referral to alternative case tracks.
- Serves as a liaison with internal and external stakeholders, judicial officers, court users, justice partners, and members of the public to coordinate various activities, respond to inquiries, and explain court case processes and procedures.
- Creates and maintains case files ensuring that the files are accurate and complete.
- Monitors and coordinates case activity through multiple legal events and processes, tracks case events/status, anticipates case flow problems and causes for delay, and initiates appropriate action to expedite cases effectively and efficiently including contacting participants to resolve issues that inhibit case flow.
- Researches case files, records, and other sources of information, and coordinates with internal/external resources, to ensure accuracy of case data, resolve issues or complaints, and prepare and issue court documents.
- Coordinates case activity and events with judicial officers, attorneys, law enforcement agencies, and litigants.
- Advises judicial officers regarding various case events that ultimately lead to final case disposition.
- Establishes and maintains contacts with the legal community, other agencies and courts/units, both internally and externally, to ensure case flow is expedited.
- Attends court proceedings which may include annotating on court worksheets, creating automated sentence orders, facilitating data entry, swearing in witnesses, and marking evidence.
- Uses automated information systems and computer software to enter, update, modify, delete, retrieve and report on data.
- Arranges delivery for legal paperwork and/or other correspondence.
- May manage court calendars or other schedules including duties such as scheduling within guidelines, coordinating parties, rescheduling, and generating notices.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Job Requirements
- Six months’ experience in managing cases as they move through the legal process.
- Six months’ experience in applying laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures.
- Six months’ experience in using an automated information system to enter, update, modify, delete, retrieve/inquire and report on data.
- Knowledge of narrative report writing.
- One year of experience in managing cases as they move through the legal process.
- One year of experience in interpreting laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures.
- Six months’ experience in researching files, records, and other sources of information, to ensure accurate case data and resolve issues in case flow or other issues.
- Six months’ experience in narrative report writing.
