Job Summary
The Production/Training Supervisor is responsible for coordinating, implementing, and overseeing training programs for manufacturing employees across two facilities. This role ensures employees have the knowledge, skills, and competencies needed to perform their jobs safely while meeting quality, productivity, and operational standards.
The Production/Training Supervisor is responsible for employee onboarding, skills development, cross-training initiatives, training documentation, management of the training cell, and supervision of the Flex Team that supports staffing needs throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Interview, hire, train, coach, and develop employees.
- Plan and coordinate training activities, evaluate employee competency, address performance gaps, and resolve training-related issues.
- Supervise and manage the Flex team comprised of 8 to 10 team members used to cover vacations and variations in capacity requirements in production processes.
- Coordinate Flex Team workforce deployment to support production demands, employee absences, training needs, and operational priorities.
- Develop, implement, and maintain structured onboarding programs for new employees.
- Coordinate and deliver training cell, hands-on, and on-the-job training programs for production employees, leads, and support personnel.
- Manage the training cell and training resources to provide effective learning opportunities for employees.
- Coordinate training activities and employee development efforts across two manufacturing facilities.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work environment while promoting 5S standards.
- Comply with safety rules, including PPE requirements and OSHA standards.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing operations, training, leadership, or workforce development.
- Demonstrated experience training, coaching, and developing employees in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience supervising employees or teams in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficient reading, writing, oral communication, and comprehension skills in English.
- Strong presentation, facilitation, and communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing systems.
- Ability to develop training materials and competency assessments.
- Ability to identify workforce capability gaps and implement effective development plans.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple training initiatives across multiple facilities.
- Ability to evaluate training effectiveness using performance metrics and employee development data.
- Knowledge of adult learning principles, root cause analysis, corrective action, continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, and workforce development practices.
Preferred
- Experience with Learning Management Systems.
- ISO experience.
- Knowledge of ERP software and document control systems.
- Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification.
- Train-the-Trainer certification.
