Salary Range: $24.04 - $33.66 per hour, based on relevant years of experience
Location: Fort Collins, Colorado at the Garcia House
Employees working at locations operating 24/7 earn a differential. Shift differentials are also available for evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.

Role Overview:
Responsible for providing direct care, supervision, and therapeutic support to clients in a 24/7 inpatient/residential treatment setting. The Residential Counselor maintains a safe, structured, and trauma-informed milieu while supporting clients in meeting individualized treatment goals. This role works collaboratively with medical and clinical staff to deliver behavioral health interventions, manage crisis, facilitate therapeutic activities, and ensure accurate and timely documentation of client care.
Essential Duties:
- Provide individualized behavioral health intervention and milieu management on the unit to maintain patient and staff safety.
- Support client intake and orientation, including completion of required paperwork and explanation of program rules and routines.
- Monitor client behavior, movement, and engagement throughout the facility and during client appointments off site, always ensuring accountability and safety.
- Facilitates client participation in their service plan through interaction with them, resourcing, problem solving and advocacy as an active contributor to the interdisciplinary treatment team shaping and informing treatment.
- De escalate conflicts and intervene in behavioral crises using trauma informed and approved intervention techniques.
- Facilitate therapeutic and skills based activity groups as assigned.
- Assist with discharge planning, including scheduling follow up appointments and coordinating transitions as directed by clinical staff.
- Accurately document client interactions, observations, and interventions in the electronic health record in a timely manner.
- Assist medical and clinical providers with client related tasks and unit operations as needed.
- Respond appropriately to emergency codes and critical incidents in accordance with agency policies.
- Maintain a clean, structured, and therapeutic environment that supports recovery and safety.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in health, human services, or a related field preferred
- At least one year of experience working in behavioral health setting or programs preferred
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be evaluated and considered
Licenses and Certifications:
- Valid Colorado driver’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire and a clean driving record required
- CPR and First Aid certifications required or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Addiction Technician (CAT) or Certified Addiction Specialist (CAS) in Colorado preferred – pursuit of CAT or CAS required within 6 months of hire for full time employees
- Trauma Informed Care experience preferred
- Bilingual/bi-cultural preferred
