Position Summary & Essential Duties
The following duties, responsibilities, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities(KSA's), and physical requirements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. SUMMARY:
Under the Coordinator, Curriculum and Instruction, the incumbent will teach assigned classes conducting ESL/Adult Education assessment, testing and instruction; completion of related documentation and reports; maintaining on-going student contact; maintaining public relations activities; maintaining student retention activities; and participation in staff and professional development activities.
Qualifications (Required and Preferred)
Bachelor's degree and two( 2) years or more of experience in educational programs and/or teaching experience.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
The incumbent:
- Provide educational instruction in assigned subject/topic areas to include reading, writing, and speaking English as well as other topics as assigned.
- Conduct student assessment and testing, educational/vocational goal setting, and options in counseling to assigned students.
- Provide instruction that produces educational improvements for students as measured by student pre/post educational testing.
- Provide instruction that produces educational improvements as defined by Texas Department of Education educational standards.
- Contact any student who has an unexplained absence to discuss progress, offer assistance, and encourage retention.
- Document contact with absent students.
- Develop and submit learning documentation and progress forms (lesson plans, student portfolios, testing results, and other learning documentation) for assigned students in accordance with directed timeline requirements.
- Prepare and submits student-related forms (student evaluations; student/attendance forms; tracking and information forms, informal assessments, and other required student-related documents) for assigned students in accordance with directed timeline requirements.
- Complete and submit staff-related forms (timesheets, professional development forms). Materials/supplies tracking forms, and other required staff related documents in accordance with directed timeline requirements.
- Immediately notifies immediate supervisor of any and all support services that students may need.
- Maintain a thorough working knowledge of and adheres to program/project policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Keep immediate supervisor well-informed of activities, results of efforts, problems identified/potential problems, etc.; recommends corrective actions to immediate supervisor.
- Respect confidentiality in discussing clients, staff, volunteers, and corporate matters; also maintains confidentiality of corporate/project fiscal and personnel related information.
- Keep immediate supervisor informed of pursuit and acquisition of continuing education to maintain credentials.
- Attend all directed meetings, seminars, workshops, staff development trainings, etc.; overnight travel occasionally required.
- Report to work regularly and on time.
- Perform other job-related duties as required.

PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Light physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of an administrative nature. May require lifting or carrying up to 15 pounds. Manual dexterity sufficient to reach and handle items. Standing or sitting for extended periods of time. Keyboard manipulation.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is normally performed in a well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor setting with adequate ventilation. Overnight travel by land and/or air may be required.
WORK SCHEDULE:
As needed. Will require evening and morning work during class semesters.
This is an on-site position. Essential duties of the role must be performed in-person, during prescribed work hours.
HOURS REQUIRED PER WEEK:
As determined by Director, Adult Education & Literacy. Minimum 6 hours per week.

SUPERVISOR OF:
None
DIRECT SUPERVISOR:
Coordinator, Curriculum and Instruction.
Not a Benefits Eligible Position.
PAYROLL: Employees are paid by direct deposit through the last working day of the month. Actual deposits are paid on the last working business day of the month. All benefit deductions are taken at that time.
