This is a 10-month position (August through May) located on the Columbia, TN Campus.
Essential Functions
Serve as men’s baseball coach including recruiting, organization of practice, game scheduling, and promotion of the program.
Works within approved budgets and manage scholarship, operating, travel and fundraising budgets for the program.
Maintains appropriate record keeping for program including, but not limited to: up-to-date statistical reports for NJCAA; student-athlete graduation and transfer statistics; files of student-athletes’ records to assist with eligibility; meets Columbia State and NJCAA deadlines for statistics, eligibility, etc.
Monitor men’s baseball student-athlete progress including class attendance, academic performance, personal adjustment and financial aid management.
Coordinate and monitor student study, athletic tutoring and classroom performance for retention and graduation of student athletes.
Advise members of baseball team with registration, class selection and programs of study.
Participate in athletic fundraising and community service events.
Adhere to all Columbia State, TCCAA and NJCAA rules and policies.
Implement youth camps.
Model sportsmanship and maintain appropriate conduct toward players, offices and spectators.
Assist with coverage of the Wellness Center staff during morning operating hours.
Work closely with staff to schedule personal and team travel.
Supervise the assistant baseball coach or coaches and student workers assigned.
Maintain equipment and field.
Actively participate in all college-wide recruitment and retention activities.
Serve as a positive role model for students, coaching staff and the community.
Support development, oversight of programs and services that result in enrollment, progression, retention and graduation growth for the service area.
Supplemental Functions
Serve on college committees
Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Student Services and Athletic Director.
Other duties as assigned.
Education, Training, and Experience
Required:
Bachelor’s degree (in education, student personnel, counseling or related field)
Preferred:
Minimum of two years of baseball coaching at the community college level
Minimum of one year of high school or college-level student services experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to relate to a diverse faculty, staff and student population.
Knowledge in coaching baseball skills and strategies.
Good recruiting skills and ability to monitor players both academically and athletically.
Good public relations skills.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including some evening and weekend hours.
Proficient in basic computer skills
Working Conditions:

Moderate lifting
Titles Supervised:
One Assistant Coach (if available) and student workers as assigned.
Hiring Salary Range (Annual): $39,620- $47,540
This is a 10-month position and is based at the Columbia TN Campus
